Hah, that's pretty much how it went when I played online in a team. The formation set out was 3-5-2 but it was really 1-1-8. It became pretty tedious as I tried to play passing football but every game ended up bypassing midfield. Over the course of twenty games I think I took one shot as I always had to cover the break which ended up being about four short players who bombed straight passed me.

Heh, isn't that what Carragher said last night? Nobody wants to be a right back...[Gary Neville].

Sounded bad, but you knew what he meant.

2 new commercial deals announced this morning for Marketing United FC, along with record turnover and the news that net debt is less than 300m for first time since Glazers took over.

If only FFP was actually put into effect properly we would be in such a healthy position.

Or if the Glazers were not allowed to buy the club with its own money.

From what I have heard regarding the Liverpool match things did tend to fall apart once Coutinho wasn't playing, was that just a change of tactics or is he that big an influence?

Linked up all the play. Although there is some feller, who is going to be available soon, that could do well playing his role.

Coutinho being out is a huge blow, but Suarez will be back and Luis Alberto will surprise a lot of people, was fantastic when he came on against Man Utd, calmed things down by retaining the ball where we had been just happy to clear it and was tactically astute.

Alberto scored 3 for the LFC U-21s on Tuesday, but I imagine Suarez would take Coutinho's place. Sterling is also an option too.

Doesn't linking the play generally mean passing the ball? Not one of Suarez's strong points IIRC

Yep. He'd have to be a changed man; not such a selfish cockmuppet.

    Arsenal's last 18 games:

    W -W- W- W- W- D- W- D- W- W- W- L- W- W- W- W- W- W

    Not too shabby at all.

It'll unravel sooner or later. Injuries will fuck us up just when we start to get optimistic.

Not sure I would agree with that, Swansea were on top in the 2nd half before Coutinho got injured. It didn't seem to help Liverpool, but I don't think it was a case of Liverpool winning if he hadn't got injured.

It just looked like a fitness thing to me. Swansea played for 90 minutes, Liverpool pooped out after 65.

Lucas and Gerrard can't run a game for 90 minutes. When Allen is fit again and can come on for either of them we'll be better towards the end of games.

    Also:

Really think there's should be a case for that being a red card. No idea what law it would be under but it seems ridiculous that you can stay on the pitch after such a deliberate attempt to injure.

You're right - should get a straight red for a dive like that, never mind deliberately attempting to injure yourself at the same time.

Every player that dives like that should be kicked in the balls as punishment.

Not the first time that someone could have died after falling foul of Ashley Williams

But he has said this before as well:

    Ashley Williams Said:
Suarez has that aura about him that says, 'I'm untouchable', and his manner and behaviour made me want to knock him out, I'd go as far as to say that the manner in which he approached the game, with utter contempt for us all, means that he's streets ahead of any player I've truly disliked since I've been in the Premier League.
The two things I would take from that quote is that 1. he can hate someone so much for their actions on a football pitch that he wants to seriously hurt them and 2. he hates multiple premier league footballers (albeit he hates Suarez the most).

Add on to that the fact that he's deliberately left his leg hanging in front of Coutinho after clearing the ball with the intention of taking the player out, doesn't seem like the nicest fellow.

Edit - surprised people are implying Coutinho dived, the fall may look a bit dramatic but if you were running along at a fair pelt and had someone bigger than you sticking their leg out across you like that nine times out of ten you would be hitting the ground awkwardly as well, he had no time to avoid that collision.

I've injured my own shoulder in the past playing football after someone took me out as I ran past the with the ball. I've never heard of someone injuring themselves diving, because if you've made a decision to fall unnecessarily you can control the fall so you don't land awkwardly.
