So you're not morally opposed to deception itself, just to deceptions with direct and obvious consequences?

    You monsters.

Took Newcastle 88 minutes to put an English player on the pitch today.

No one's approving of scabbing a throw in.

I kept quiet today and had to whip the phone out to double double check if a foul in the half semi circle was a pen or not. Live it looked 3 foot out the box, in replays it looked even further, but no one seemed to say anything.

If the referee decides a foul initially started outside the penalty area but continued into the box he's correct to award a penalty. There was plenty of contact on Young throughout. Commentators continue to get that wrong.

Contact, foul and initial collapse were outside the box.

I think I heard on Footy Weekly that Fulham haven't won a home game in something like 8 or nine matches. Jol next to go?

I've just seen the backlash in here on the United penalty. Never a penalty granted but a definite foul and a red.

Youngs first dive was shocking but seems as though people are mixing the two incidents and calling dive on the actual foul.

For the record young deserves all the abuse he gets a he's a pathetic diving cheat but arguing the second isn't a foul and red seems a to be a bit confirmation bias to me.

Anyone know roughly when they stick MOTD on iplayer? Thought it might be on already but it says coming soon.

I think MOTD doesn't appear on iplayer till Monday or Tuesday, I am not sure though and you can always get a torrent or watch it in bits on 101greatgoals.com

I only saw half of Everton vs Chelsea, can't remember us dominating a game at Goodison like that so I'm quite happy really with the way we played just one of those games where we couldn't finish.

I was up in Wembley so we thought we would go to the Sports Bar nearby naively thinking that being a Sports Bar they would have Sky Sports. Nope, they were streaming the game off wiziwig and a poor stream at that. 10 minutes behind, constant buffering and it would give an epileptic a fit. At one point the PC crashed and all the TVs went down. I wouldn't mind so much if it was just a small pub in the middle of nowhere but this was a Sports Bar which had "Live football in here" plastered all over, walls full of football memorabilia and its right next to our national stadium.

So Mark Halsey has revealed in his autobiography that Ferguson was on texting terms with referees.

    Warrants an immediate investigation, imo.

Yeah but if you had special referee glasses on, you would see that it was quite clearly a penalty eventhoughitwasn't :)

Having seen the footage again from yesterday, I really don't see why Sunderland have got themselves so worked up about that goal.

Yes, he scored. But the whistle went a good couple of seconds before it went in. Plus both players had their hands all over each other. It had gone on, already, for about 2-3 seconds and you could assume the ref thought 'that's long enough' (unfortunately just as it turned into a chance), the midfielder in the middle of Sunderland was waving around for a freekick and had stopped his movement into the box to gesticulate at the referee and the fans were all baying for a free kick. Funny how 30k fans wanted the free kick to be awarded right there and then, and then when the ref did it was a terrible call.

Another couple of seconds and they could have had a goal, but would Sneezy had saved it if the whistle hadn't gone? (He looked confused after it had gone in at the ref in a 'did you just whistle' kind of way). The two covering defenders certainly hadn't heard it but not sure about the keeper.

It was a 'mistake' but he'd already let it go on for quite some time where it had been a stalemate of epic lady-pushing proportions and I can see why he didn't let it go on for much longer, especially as the other Sunderland player had effectively stopped playing (he was running into the area) in order to shout at the ref for a freekick.

Not that I want to drudge up old news but just curious...wasn't it Pardew that moaned about Arsenal hardly fielding any youngsters? Or was that someone else?

In Pardew's defence, he probably has zero say on what players he has.

@kentmonkey Yes, the ref blew his whistle early thus whatever happened after is irrelevant. The real issue is why wasn't Altidore booked for playing on after the ref blew his whistle? ;)

Icanthitabarndoor looks like a typical Di Canio signing. He could be another Alves in the making.
