Well at least he's honest about it, the c*nt.

Let's just hope Giroud stays fit and keeps up his form.
Not sure I see the logic there. Ba is a decent striker but he wasnt going to turn you into title contenders. He would have been back up to giroud and filled in when needed. Plus he could play against their title rivals but not them.

    Mourinho playing games I think....

Quick question, is Cisse actually any good? His lack of form seems to have included most of last season.
Anyone's guess. In spite of failing to score for half a year, he still made double digits last season. He's offside a lot, he wastes chances a lot, and he gives the ball away a lot. On the other hand he makes some good runs, and scores great goals.

Der Hammer? Sad, loved him at Villa. Injury or fell out of love with the game?

Crikey, the knives are really out for Utd at the moment in the press. Never seen anything like it.

    Yeah, he's good.

What isn't any good is the service to him.

    Wait...Remy's a wide player now?
AFAIK he can play anywhere up front (unlike Cisse) but is known to and probably will operate as the second striker and/or more out wide, Bellamy style.

I hardly called him a winger did I?

He knows having a back up striker will go a long way to keeping our momentum, yet a single injury to Giroud would derail us.

Ba could end up being important this season, 5 goals of the bench is worth 3 million I'd say.

Is that what united want to be, the new Everton. I mean is that what they thought early last season? "Oh, if only we had baines, moyes, fellaini.. we'd really be onto somethin here"

That's bollocks. You don't piss a league by 11 points by ' not playing very well'.

I'm quite liking all this talk of not making the top 4, I'm finding it quite funny.

In the past 6 years we've won 4 PL titles and lost the others by one point and on goal difference. Not bad for a team that's doesn't play well with average players.

    Hated, adored, never ignored.

But even Utd fans must be wondering how you'll fare if the going gets tough. Ferguson was such a huge influence, you just don't know if Moyes will be able to corral the troops in the same way. I'm sure long term, Moyes will be fine, but for a year or two, you just never know...

Oh, and Mesut fucking Ozil! Made up, can't wait to see him play. After his inevitable injury in the internationals.

Daily Mail already running with a January bid for Baines from United - what is wrong with that paper?!

Wouldn't worry about it if Woodward is in charge still. Hell probably come in at half of our last offer.

"In the league of shit, the mediocre team are champions" - Erasmus

Man Utd still have the best striker in the league, plus Rooney, and a fair few other decent players. It doesn't actually matter if they play well or not; only if they win (or not).

Its not even injury, we have champions league, carling cup and a busy league programme before christmas. He can't play all those games, or he'll get into the "red" zone.

Even little things like not being able to come off and have a 15 min rest at the end of games will add up

Fair point. Just the thought of Demba Ba making you title contenders seemed a bit strange. I guess you need the squad to challenge on all fronts.

Here's the thing I genuinely don't get about the Transfer Window. I understand that players can only move within the window - that makes sense and is generally a good thing.

What I don't get is why more clubs don't do their business outside of the window. Some do, but I'm amazed that most wait until the last minute in an inflated market to move for targets as if they're bidding for something on eBay. It really doesn't strike me as a serious way to do business.

Why not identify your targets, do your business, and move and settle most of your players in at the start?

This stuff with Newcastle is a classic example - they will have known what they needed for months before the window opened. How can you possibly blame moving targets, when they've spent most of that time stationary?

I think because contracts can't be finalised until the window is open, any business you do outside the window is dangerous, especially with the likes of Chelsea around who will get up to shenanigans a la Mikel, Essien, Willian etc.

Also quite often there's a daisy chain effect, so these things have a tendency to move towards the end of the window as it's really only the deadline that forces the issue.

    Not to mention opportunistic bargains.

Tbh, I think football would be better off without the transfer window.
