I remember buying similar amounts of good players on Football Manager one year and then had my worst season yet.

    So, yeah, you've been warned.

The only question mark I suppose is how well and how quickly all those new players are going to gel - see also: Newcastle.

Well, they're playing reasonably well so far. Hopefully they'll just get better as well.

But yes, a bit of patience is probably sensible.

    Oh baby.

Fucking Chelsea. If we got Willian I'd probably say something silly like we could win the league this year.

I basically now don't give a fuck about Willian tbh. Can't believe we were ever going to sign him and Lemala, and the latter was the more ambitious signing if anything.

There are probably more players on their way, which is a worry. I'm not even sure the Bale money's been spent.

This Romanian defender is coming I'm sure, but that could be that. Would love to get Erikson on top of that though.

Phil McNulty is backing the Independent's story that Baines has asked for a move to Man U. Does not sound good.

Really hope Spurs don't get a super creative CAM. It's all they need to leave us behind.

I still can't believe we are not going to make a single signing. I'm stunned.

    What we know as facts:
    - 2 bids rejected for Suarez
    - Personal terms agreed with Higuain, no bid
    - 1 bid rejected for Lars Bender
    - 1 bid rejected for Pogba
    - 1 bid rejected for Cabaye
(I may have missed out a few)

It doesn't look like they've tried very hard. Some obvious targets with tentative bids, and no real effort to follow through.

Windows not over. I'd be amazed if we don't sign anyone. It might not be anyone mind blowingly amazing but there is literally no way we won't sign anyone at all.

Don't we have something like 12 first team players fit if you exclude youngsters like Frimpong and Gnabry. Crazy.

Not really the signing any United fan is most anxious to see pushed through but would be an excellent addition.

I'm willing to bet we won't sign anyone bar Flamini. We're not even linked to anybody anymore. Also, shares have been bought today...

The shitty thing isn't that it is happening - I was expecting it. It's that it is coming so late. Why couldn't this have been resolved weeks ago? Hope Roberto has someone in mind to replace them.

We didn't bid for him as far as I know, only 'made an enquiry'.

Nah, I think we'll get at least 2 more (in addition to Flamini). But it'll most likely be an 11pm deadline-day rush like in 2011, so no-one exciting.

Who played left back for Wigan last season?

That's who he has in mind, whoever he is.

I wouldn't be surprised if we just play Lemala as a number 10 like we did with Bale for most of last season. It would certainly make more sense with our current players. So we'd set-up the attack and midfield like this:

    Soldado

    Lemala

    Chadli Dembele Lennon/Townsend

    Paulinho Sandro/Capoue

Chadli's cross for Soldado's (second?) goal in last week's Euro tie was superb, for a touchline hugger I'm surprised he doesn't head for the byline more. Cutting inside so often negates his ability.

I think AVB wants us to be more of a 4-3-3 type team, so have all three front players scoring goals, hence the constant cutting in. He's got Lennon and Townsend doing it too.

Personally I'm with you. I like proper wingers and now that we've got Soldado I'm all for crosses from the byline, but I'm also happy to concede AVB probably knows better than me :)

Twitter saying eriksen almost done as well for spurs. Dubious but crazy exciting. And that piers morgan is having a meltdown. Heh.

Defeat is not getting knocked down, but refusing to get back up.

It's all going mental. We've also apparently bid 12m for Zakaria Bakkali, that 17 year old Belgian who scored a hat-trick on his debut for PSV last week.

I don't really understand Arsenal's transfer strategy this summer. When they 'had no money' (heh), it was easier to fathom.

Equally, I don't understand why fans who pay the highest season ticket prices in the country are so accepting of the state of affairs year on year.

Is it possible something's afoot at The Emirates? All these players being offloaded, wage bill clearing up... Isn't that the process you go through when you're about to sell your business?

Perhaps I'm trying to rationalise too much, but I just really plainly don't understand what's going on this summer.
