If Robin van Persie picks up a long-ish term injury, outside the top four you shall be!
    Are you taking the piss?

    I can't actually tell.
Given Utd are a 1 man team.
People said that when RvN was here. Then it was Ronaldo. Then it was Rooney. Now it's van Persie.

    You get my drift?
None of them got long term injuries. Something van Persie is quite likely to get.

    Capisce?

Catching up on MOTD, Arsenal have some cause for complaint, referee did not have a good game, a new signing finishing them off has to sting.

Have any of you heard of a player called Javier Hernandez? I think he's supposed to be pretty good.

Also there is a scouser called Wayne Rooney who comes off the bench sometimes.

    Come and get it cumslingers!

You Man Utd fans are clearly so easy to wind up.

I'm pretty sure no one really comes out smelling of win with playground "retorts".

United looked like headless chickens until RvP popped up and had Bony been fit and started with Michu in his more natural position the first half could have been a completely different story.

Of course Swansea then fell apart after the 2 goals, but that's more of an issue of their style of play when chasing the game. They look decent enough though. Shelvy seems to play a lot better when he is deeper, but having Michu/Bony start should push him back anyway.

Don't get the gloating by beating a team that haven't won in the last ten games in the premier league.

The knee jerking in here is awesome.

Utd won a game and arsenal lost a game. Suddenly the league positions of a 38 game season are decided!

Indeed, don't get your hopes up about finishing outside the top 4 just yet.

At least this should shut my colleague up, who wouldn't accept that beating Vietnam and Indonesia doesn't automatically mean you get off to a great start,

I thought the motd analysis for the arsenal v villa match was pretty decent but arsenal actually played quite well in patches, I thought Shearer was a bit harsh to the midfield which performed well and despite the result there was actually some positive elements. Of course that isn't the story as everyone thinks some purchases will suddenly make it all better.

You are a factory of sadness.

To be fair to the ref in the Arsenal game, for the second penalty the ball travels in the direction Agbonlahor is running so you can see why he assumed Koscielny didn't get the ball.

And Shearer was right in some ways, the tackle took his back leg before the ball and it was from behind. Oddly at the time I agreed with the perception that it wasn't a penalty but after the analysis I have changed my mind.

Analysis from the Dutch league on how changing a manager may statistically have no overall impact on performance which regresses to the mean. Not sure I'd give it too much weight given it's impossible to prove or even compare like-for-like, but interesting nonetheless.

Everton may regret doing swapsies with Man Utd; they're sure to come in for Barkley next summer.

Nothing to regret. Any great player we have will get snapped up. It's inevitable given our funds. If we can get a season or two out of them before it happens, then that's ace. Else, c'est la vie. It's the way football works today.

The ref had a good game, having to make snap decisions against the home team was never easy. I wonder if the ref gave the pen for the early part of the tackle that Alan pointed out, or the end part if the tackle that the defender made but looked like he missed the ball?

I though Barkley looked the part before he was shipped out on loan (twice). Get him tied down with no release clause that could be exploited by his agent. He potentially could end up being a better player than Rooney.

Aye, he's always been good. Moyes just didn't want to expose him too early and loaning him was a good idea. Hopefully this season he can step up into the first team regularly. He's certainly got a head on him.

    Looks like a thug tho.

Looking forward to watching Mile Jedinek against Spurs today, he is a bit like Fellaini but more dirty and without any talent.

So Van Nistelrooy wasn't out for about 6 months in 04/05?

    Ok then.

Anyway, when all have left/been injured others step up.

I don't think you actully believe United will finish outside the top four, even minus RvP. You're just on the wind up. As usual.

    Hated, adored, never ignored.

Do you think Everton are ever going to sort out this situation they are in where they can't get hold of cash?
