Because they're institutional c*nts of an old boys club.
Have you met the entirety of the BBCs management structure? If not, I dont believe you are qualified to comment.

Why oh why would they still employ Shearer? Loved him as a player but he is one of the most boring people on earth

Shearer is completely clueless which is worse than boring. I really think he does little to no research which in reality, doesn't watch many matches or read past a newspaper headline or what his mates talk about. He can't come up with any insight or knowledge. To be out of your depth on MOTD is telling. Can't believe they pay them so much. Jobs for the boys.

I would have sacked the lot of them and got the F1, now BT Sports bloke ages ago.

Theres a decent argument to be made to just have extended highlights of each game with a blonde bird with big tits doing a 20 second link between each one.

He's terrible as well. I don't see why MotD needs any analysis, just show more of the games.

Yeah, the "now back to the studio" bits are basically advert breaks. I don't need 20 replays of how Hansen thinks it's a stonewall penalty.

If I ever do watch MoTD it's Tivo'd and I skip through all of the Alanysis.

Who was that guy that did football Italia on channel 4.

Should just be him with a coffee and sweet.

    James Richardson.

The best presenter in the business for my money, but won't be getting on a mainstream channel anytime soon.

Great, I think I get this BT channel through having BT internets.
Although I don't know how I actually watch it, can I get it on my computer, iplayer style?

(Someone please explain it to me because I am lazy. Shameful, I know)

Richardson really made the Italian football better, he was an engaging telly presence who tended to either know what he was talking about or make it up so convincingly that I was fooled. How come he doesn't have a higher profile jerb?

Thanks Deck, I am pretty sure I signed up for that earlier this summer. Streaming prem games for nothing, by Grabthar's hammer what a savings.

Conspiracy against baldies being the lead.

Probably who you know, mates and some inner circle shite or he doesn't want to be involved with a programme he can't put his own slant on.

    Always liked him.

I seem to remember him saying that he's not really even much of a football fan! Or wasn't before Football Italia

I know this is championship news but that thread is pretty quiet. Doncaster have signed one of the "singers" from one direction

Yeah, I think his dream was to front a music show from what I remember.

@spindle9988 I would have put signed in inverted commas too.

Genius move marketing though, I bet his Doncaster top will rival top ten sales now, if that's what they're doing, which they totally should!

For those who don't rate MOTD analysis and have Sky+/Tivo - do what I do and just start watching it 15-20 minutes after it properly starts. That way you can fast-forward to your hearts content.

edit; Above also goes for watching live via iPlayer.

The alternative is to have a life and be doing stuff on a Saturday night, put it on record before you go out and then watch it the next day. Not saying that's what I do, just saying that it is an opportunity open to all of us. Either that or watch it with some friends and talk about how stupid the analysis is and having someone defend Lawro for some reason, why ever that may be.

My God man, you're right! Apparently they call it a 'social life'.

Must admit that I'll sometimes decide to give it a miss if my club loses and I'm not in the mood for football.
