There's a rumour going round that we're waiting for the clause to expire so we can bid a lower amount for him.

Meanwhile our cash reserves are 180m, more than all the other PL clubs put together.

If you want to bid lower you'd do it anytime, clause or not. If we were willing to release him for a lower price, then the release price is irrelevant.

i'd love it if that happened.

Don't get me wrong, Suarez would probably clean up for you guys. But i'd still love it.
If he comes to us, we'll have a proven PL-ready forward to hopefully take us to the next level. If he goes to Spurs, they'll have a bitey racist cunt that we can all make fun of. Win-win. \o/

    Yeah, sounds very off.
180mil reserves huh? Hope we put it in the trophy cabinet.
At least that ends the "Arsene was no money to spend" excuse.

Are we sure we've got 180m in reserves and it's not what we're paying our reserves as a collective annual salary?

In all seriousness I reckon it's very unlikely we'll see any players coming in until after our CL qualifier second leg which is on August 27th.

Heh, our 19 year old centre back just taught Pirlo how to take a pen :D

John Stones with the pen right after Pirlo missed a pen for Juventus to win:

    Sigh.

I miss the good old days of having your new signings do a preseason with you before the season started.

Not many do that though. Every manager and agent says the last 2 weeks of the transfer window are the busiest.

I'm sure his parents said something similar.

Levy must be absolutely pissing himself with glee. 100m is mental money. There's no doubt he's a fantastic player, but that amount for one top notch season is insane. I realise these arguments have probably been done to death....

So can we have Ronaldo back now?

I was just listening to Graham Hunter on the Radio and the reaction of the Spanish press and Real fans is that of complete bewilderment. They cant quite believe they werent able to steamroller Spurs and are thinking 'who the fuck is this daniel levy? What else does he want? blood?'.

They, by all accounts, just cant wrap their heads around the fact that someone is playing hardball with them (despite the modric saga).

I hope we get that young striker who won't want to come.

I think there's a very reasonable chance you'll get Modric. Madrid haven't even paid us for him yet, and now they're going to need to find a lot more money for Bale, plus they've already spent a fortune this window.

Hunter also commented on that saying that they are going to use the higuain money to part finance Bale and put the rest on tick.

The tricky bit for Levy is going to be the fan reaction to him not spending all the money on players. I have a feeling Paulinho, Chadli and Soldado is effectively the replacement players, but people will be expecting much more if Bale goes.

I don't think Spurs would have a problem with signing Suarez because of some inappropriate language, since they saw no issue with signing soneone like Jonathan Woodgate. If you can't draw a line there, you won't be deterred by someone's verbals.

He also has the, fairly reasonable, get out clause of stadium costs.

I think we'd need to see some significant movement in the new stadium thing for that to calm fans, especially as it's all gone very quiet indeed on that front.

I'd be delighted if we managed to get Modric, finally after all these years of wanting us to sign him.

EDIT- without adding the Levy tax too.

Aye. It's a tricky balancing act - without CL football this year, you'd have to throw an awful lot to convince the top players to come. Might be wise to hold on to most for next year/Jan and see how the season pans out.
