Moyes kicked right off over our signing of Lescott. Labelled it "Disgusting" and banging on about not doing "business in public".
So what are you doing now David?? Hypocrite much?

    Heh, not yet.

Turns out its just messages on twitter though, less alarming than someone actually taking the time to write a letter or something.

I'm bit sure what people expected the Barcelona hierarchy to say? "Roll up, we invite all bids".

Wasn't a United fan on here saying that the fact that they haven't said he's not for sale is a good sign.

The issue seems to have been that Cesc wanted Barca to make him feel wanted. So Barcelona have come out and said he's important.

Of course I have no idea whats happening behind the scenes, but it seems like the player doesn't want to leave and now the club have explicitly said they don't want to sell.

    reverse psychology?

He's been tried in the position moyes wants him to play, deeper like Xavi and Scholes and he didn't quite fit in at Barca.

I think he's more effective between the lines of midfield and attack and United already have Kagawa who is excellent in this role.

    ... staggering.

I really hope you're on the wind up and playing the part of "deluded unlikeable Man United fan" rather than being serious.

I'd love him at United, he would undoubtedly improve our midfield but the whole thing has been a bit unrealistic from the getgo. I don't understand the continued pursuit though, it clearly isn't going anywhere.

As of yet Kagawa isn't proven to be anywhere near the level of Fabregas.
  • Deleted user 26 July 2013 13:54:56
Nope, but united couldn't find a role for Kagawa last year, ended up with him on the left wing.

So Cesc could well be a square peg at United.

There was a good interview with Klop in the Guardian where he put Kagawa right at the top of players he's managed.

You need someone to replace Scholes, and Fanregas is far more likely to be that person than Kagawa is. I'm honestly not sure what Kagawa's role at United will be longterm. He doesn't seem to be quite what they needed/wanted him to be.

Fabregas makes it eeasier, if anything to accomodate Kagawa.

Fabregas is more than capable of playing beside Carrick with Kagawa in front of the pair, then the three others upfront.

Unfortunately what was always a very, very unlikely deal is becoming ever increasingly more unlikely. The Boss and Senior representatives have all come out saying he is important to them so he'll stay.

I'd love to see him join but I'm not pinning my hopes on it and I really, really hope we have a couple of other options ready to pursue after this.

No. He's a very good one touch player from what I saw though. Very good control and feet. But in terms of the bigger picture he's probably not at Cescs level.

I guess very few players are.

As I posted, it really relies on Roony or another striker playing left or right of a front three with Kagawa playing off the striker/top of the three in midfield.

He's an excellent player, albeit with a lot to prove, and I hope he gets his chance this season.

He's not the same type of player either though, so it's a bit unfair to compare.

No, I guess not, but he's been tried there at Barca with a bit of success. Close to messi off the front, where Kagawa operates I mean.

If Carrick has as good a season as he did last year and Kagawa shows some form they might not need another midfielder.
Well, maybe, but then you look at City and Chelsea's central players and you've got to think there's a gap there.

Quite frankly Spurs are looking to have better central players. I reckon Sandro, Paulinho and Dembele would all get a game at United.

I wouldn't buy into that theory. Kagawa alongside Carrick is not a midfield that could be played against the power of Yaya Toure for example.

We need something else in midfield for sure, Felliani alone would improve us massively. I agree with Kal though, someone like Dembele or Sandro would probably be first teamers for United.
