Cech was utterly incredible until he got nobbled. A bit of a pale imitation after.

Te best two goalies in their pomp I've seen in the Premier League were The Great Dane and Seaman.

Reina not in that top class of PL all time keepers for me. The comparison with Cech in particular is way off. People forget what he was like before his head injury. Absolutely unstoppable. Chelsea almost literally never conceded a goal.
He was one of the primary reasons they won the European cup. He hasn't always been quite at that level but without his exploits I very much doubt Chelsea would have won that, or the Europa.

You are a factory of sadness.

I think on balance by the way, the Premiership has always bene blessed with having really good keepers.

Due to his form at Villa, people forget how good Given was.

    Brilliant keeper.

    Hated, adored, never ignored.

There is a few not so nice rumours about him post Gary speeds death that somewhat tie in with his complete loss of form.

Don't know if they're true but there was certainly a correlation between the two.

Correlation doesn't prove causation. He had some injury problems and he is getting on a bit. I'm surprised no one has come in for him, actually.

I'm aware of that, he's sort of a hero here anyway so if rather not believe it

What's happened to this incredible Arsenal spending spree Gazidis implied would happen?
It's an incredible Arsenal "oh shit I think we've successfully signed Higuain, let's derail it by bidding comfortably less than Liverpool will accept for Suarez" spree.

Everyone who mocked them at the start of the transfer window appears to be being proved right.

I don't understand why everyone is getting so excited about our lack of signings.

Apart from liverpool and Manchester, other clubs haven't signed loads of players either.

It's not so much the lack of signings for Arsenal; it's now more about who you could be getting :D

More evidence that Cech is still suffering from his head injury:

Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech believes Manchester City must build a team before they can be considered a serious threat to the Premier League title, declaring "money has never won anything".

Cech has watched on as new City manager Manuel Pellegrini has immediately signed Fernandinho, Jesus Navas, Alvara Negredo and Stevan Jovetic.

However, the 31-year-old concludes the team dynamic will be the most important element as teams battle for domestic honours next season.

He told the Sun: "Money has never won anything. You can spend as much as you want but you must build a team first."

Tickets for the Malaysia XI vs Chelsea game today are being given away for free to fill the stadium after there was little demand for them when on sale.

Are Spurs trying to emulate Spain by not bothering with strikers?

Spurs have bought a player we've never scouted before? I'm not having it.

No surprise there as Spurs scouts are usually too busy scouting out who Liverpool scouts - scout. So sometimes you just have to make a leap of faith.

There's only so many players, and Arsenal and Spurs are at about the same level, so it's not much of a surprise that they're looking at the same guys.

Not sure why Liverpool are bothering, mind.

Shit. De Bruyne just scored a cracking volley for Chelsea but landed badly on his ankle.
    Hope it's not too serious.
