@kalel I don't really agree with that. Inexperienced second squadto some degree but definitely not average. I think the main problem with both our squads has been a lack of options in one or two areas in particular. The forward line being a prominent example for both of us. If you got Villa with Defoe and Ade being back up options for him. That is a great set of options to have. I think that could genuinely make you title challengers. Same goes if we get Higuain.

You're a Liverpool fan, right? Don't drag them down to that level.

Up front isn't a problem for us with options if we get one better striker than we currently have.

But when we're forced to field Flappyhandski in goal, Squillacci/Djourou in defence and Coquelin/Pingpong in DM as soon as we have injuries, that's not a good second squad.

I think, and I could be wrong, but I think kalel was saying that in terms of overall PL strength, our second teams are average. And I'd agree with that. If we fielded our next 11, and Spurs did the same, we'd finish mid table or thereabouts.

Whereas with City and Chelsea, they could (in most cases) field a second XI and still finish in the top three.

As second teams, ours isn't 'average', but in terms of overall PL quality, it is. And we suffer as soon as we get injuries, just like most of PL teams, and that's what separates the 'probably gonna win the league' teams to 'stand an outside chance if the physio table is nice to them' teams.

And why sometimes you just need a bit of luck. If you're going to get significant injuries, you want them in areas where you do have decent replacements or not too many in one position. Playing your 9th choice RB ain't fun.

    I'd be dragging them up.

    Who do you support?
Given the amount of airtime he gives Liverpool , you could almost class him as a supporter. Alas he is a typical Evertonian, preoccupied with the more successful neighbours than his own team.

So, with Paulinho signing for Spurs, surely Johninho, Georginho and Ringoinho won't be far behind.

David Villa to Spurs next then? A deal i find a tad odd tbh considering his age and recent injuries.
