He's only 33. His influence and ability still surpass pretty much anyone else it that position. Like Pirlo who is 34, he'll probably be playing at the top of his game for the next 2/3 years.

It's not about his release clause though ultimately. It's about you paying him more in wages.

He doesn't have to leave Barca even if you meet the release clause.

And it's a discussion. If you don't like it I suggest avoiding discussion forums.
No, it's about game time before the World Cup next year. Barca can't guarantee the time because of Xavi and Iniesta, they've even supposed to have offered him a massive new contract according to Graham Hunter.

I don't mind arguing, but you're deliberately being obtuse. I'm sure if it was Spurs he was being linked with then he'd be the greatest thing since sliced bread.

    It's not arguing, again, it's a discussion.

I'm not being obtuse, you're being a defensive child.

I'm not being defensive, it's just quite clear that you're not really clued up about the Thiago situation.

    I'm discussing it, you see.

@Tom_Servo 2 very astute signings from Sparky so far. In 1 month he's shaped the squad by getting 2 proper fullbacks, signed players before the squad come back for pre-season and looks to invest time in the youth system we've spent so much on over the last 4 years. Something Pulis couldn't do in 10 years.

Your last three posts have had a personal pop at me, including this one, all because I'm slightly dubious as to why a club like Barca would not need a player with such "ridiculous skill".

@welshben23 Be great if it happens but i feel he'll end up elsewhere tbh with a much bigger club. I'd be happy with a few decent signings and the debt finally sorted with Hamman. Anything else is just a bonus.

I saw that Gomis rejected both of us :D and it seems like a matter of time before Bony joins you lot.

You still happy with Laudrup? As it seems a lot of Jacks want him out after the Jenkins row.
Sorry I didn't see this until now. Yeah according to a couple of different websites, both of us are still after Gomis :D To be honest I'd prefer Bony, hope he arrive soon.

I think all the fuss with Laudrup was down to the idiot Tutumlu. I'm still very happy with ML. This is very good article, which explains a lot I thought - http://thepremierleagueowl.com/swanseas-transfer-agression-making-bayram-tutumlu-look-ever-more-silly/

@welshben23 Seems Gomis is determined to stay at Lyon which is pretty disappointing as he could do a job for either of us. Although we're still pretty keen on Oscar Cardozo and rumours suggest he's keen on coming after our bid of 10 million was rejected so fingers crossed.

Ahh, seen a lot of Swans really unhappy that Laudrup hasn't fucked off after putting himself in the shop window for other clubs.

Yeah, and I've pointed you in the right direction as to why he could potentially leave. Nothing to do with Barca not wanting to keep him. They're furious and the fans have been calling for sackings of he left.

And I stand by him being ridiculously talented, getting in the Barcelona team or not. Bale wouldn't get in a Barca side with Messi and Neymar. Doesn't mean he's not ridiculously talented, does it?

@captbirdseye If you get Oscar Cardozo it will be one of the signings of the Summer imho. He's getting older now(I say that, he's the same age as me:D) but he's scored 161 goals in 260 games for Benfica. Watch the rumours go around tomorrow that we're after him too lol.

"Do you know the name of that Brazilian striker son?"
    "Neymar."
"Not to worry, I'll ask your dad."

@welshben23 Hahaha, do find it funny that we're constantly linked with the same players. I really can't wait for our South Wales derby :D.

Asking if Thisgo's s good, why aren't Barca paying him could've been said for Cesc when he left, and he didn't turn out too shabby.

of course. the natural comeback to that is talented or not, they have a strict wage structure for all up and coming players. but that would apply to Thiago too.

besides, apparently United are looking to triple his wages. pretty sure Barca haven't got as much cash as United.

Anyway, he'll probably end up staying so it will likely all be moot in a couple of weeks.

United signing a central midfielder? Hahaha!

Looks like Shelvey is on his way to Swansea for 6m. Shame. Still think he'll end up a good player but has really fallen down the pecking order.

Can't get over Moyes wearing Utd gear. Keep thinking he's just going undercover to destroy the club before returning home.

That would explain why he took Steve Round with him.

I've heard that he's going to Palace for 5m, which makes sense going "back home" and playing for Holloway who he had a successful loan at Blackpool with previously.

Didn't realise Shelvey has an England cap. Wow. Must have been a lot of drop outs for that game.

That's Hodgson for you. Looks like he's off to Swansea for 6m, the club have announced it this morning. Swansea are into their purchases this summer...

Won't pretend to be an expert on the matter, but my understanding was that Barca couldn't get close to Arsenal for Fab's wages as he was under a certain age, and there's laws in place in Spain for that. So it's not the same situation for Thiago.

I'd have thought Barca were as rich if not richer tbh, but again, don't really know.
