Boo hoo. Hewlett Packard to be our shirt sponsor again.

    Those were not good days.

    Really? :/

They were secretly our sponsor last season as well after buying Autonomy, but now they're actually switching the branding.

    Didn't know that.

I'm just sweating on Paulinho after all the new Real Madrid talk. Wonder if it's his agent trying to speed things up?

What will be will be. PotL seems pretty confident we've done all we can all Poulinho, and it's just there for him to sign now. Franco has now left Brazil anyway to go and tie up Villa.

Not sure about this RM stuff anyway. Can't see why they'd want him.

Which is why I'm sceptical. AM I overstaing it that if we get Villa, the we can boast Lloris, Vertonghen, Bale, Paulinho and Villa as world class players in our team? Would that not be all kinds of awesome?

I know lols will start rolling in, but I genuinely believe we should be able to compete with just about any side if we can keep those key players fit for a season - and buy them of course! :)

It would be great, but I don't think those two additions transform us from a team struggling to make 4th to one that makes it comfortably, let alone challenge above that point. Pretty much all the teams that finished above us are also strengthening to similar degrees, if not more so.

But yeah, all good, and if they happen I'll be excited.

You're overstating it, but it'll still be a very good team.

My concern is that Arsenal could strengthen considerably and still finish outside of the top 4. Not that I think they will but the top 5 teams all have squads that could potentially win the league.

It also looks like Liverpool are getting their shit together so I'd imagine it'll be a top 6 in a couple of years.

I dunno, our main problems last year were lack of goals and Sandro getting injured for the last 4 months of the season. If those two things are rectified, and the players kept fit, I don't see why we shouldn't be able top pick up at least 9 more points or so.

But yeah, City, Chelsea will be out of sight.

Arsenal will be saying exactly the same thing if they sign (for example) Higuain and Fellaini. You can't see one team in isolation. You have to consider the teams they're competing with.

But Higuain and Fellanini will be the only decent players they've got! ;)

    Wahey! etc.

Paulinho is world class all of a sudden? How much of him have you seen morriss?

  • Deleted user 26 June 2013 14:05:38
Just depends on your definition really. It's not a term I use just because it's impossible to not start a debate by using it.

Probably to get away from the whole clusterfuck that that acquisition was.

Shakhtar CEO says Dortmund have offered 25m for Mkhiywotsit.
  • Deleted user 26 June 2013 14:56:15
I thought the whole thing was that he had a buyout at 20m.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan could be the key to Liverpool for the coming season, essentially they are looking at this player as the new Gerrard. With the 433 system Brendan prefers, Liverpool's problem early last season was that the 3 midfielders were just too flat - Steven Gerrard is not the lung-busting player any more and Liverpool need a younger SG type player to make the 433 work effectively. One of the three needs to attack from deep, Henderson was tried but not good enough. Shame tbh, he really ought to have grabbed his chance last season to make the role his own.

I think Aspas can be the player to sit behind the main striker (Sturridge), but it's Mkhitaryan that Liverpool really need more than any other player to fit into this role, the advanced midfielder out of the 3.

Suarez ideally would have been the best one, it was tried once last season Vs. Oldham and that went tits up; although this idea outght not to be abandoned as it takes time plus it's probably more suited to home games in converting draws into wins. Ofc he's likely to be sold so he's out of the picture regarding that.

Dortmund have made a 23 million (19.5m), but Shakhtar want one installment of 30m (25m).

I still think there's a decent player in there; he's just taken too much flak alongside Downing to really break out of his shell. A move to another club to sort his game out would not be a terrible move for him.

The real question is without Suarez and Gerrard who can Liverpool look to dive and get them some penalties?

I'd still have him at Spurs in a heartbeat.

You shouldn't need "regular football and a bit of nurture" to play your heart out for over a hundred grand a week, and that's my problem with him. Great when he's in the mood, but thick as mince and went from dirt poor to stupid money without ever having some kind of calibration period.

I'm actually quite understanding over his move to City. We didn't quite take him seriously enough and offer him the deal he deserved in due time and I was actually pretty gutted we lost him. His actions since then are what make me think less of him and I'm now glad we got shot of him when we did.
