Jesus, they were asking us for 8m in January. Wonder if we'll match the bid now.

He had better stats than Zaha in the Championship last season and Zaha cost more than twice what Cardiff have had accepted.

    But zaha has cool hair.

Stats don't mean much though. Otherwise players like Darren Bent are better than most strikers in the world.

I'm not saying he's a bad player, but 8.5m for him was quite frankly stupid money, and as the U21 championship has shown, some of those players at that level just aren't that good. Yet.

As a nation we do like to big-up young, fairly average, players.

15m is delightful for the pony that is zaha. Utd fans will see that soon enough. He switched off for palace once he got his move or saw how much cash he was gonna get. Been a great year for palace really

It's extremely poor form by the club.

30% of that Ince deal goes to Liverpool. Hearing Wanyama discussions have broken down with Southampton and his agent has been sounding us out as his prefered option...fingers crossed!

I thought Wanyama was already playing for one of the "biggest clubs in the world"? Surely he can do better than Cardiff?

He doesn't seem the type to do that. It might be something else.

They're interesting signings. Seems likely that at least some of those are quite shrewd.

I do have a feeling though that the Suarez deal is basically done, and they're quietly spending the money before the prices go up accordingly.

Rogers has bought pretty well so far (from last summer), so the precedent is... interesting, at least.

I'm sure that's true, and if so, it's smart business practice.

None of the transfers so far have got the pulse racing, and I'm always wary of these Barcelona "B" team players, especially those who aren't offered new deals by the club. IF the rumours are true and we have 20m plus the Suarez money, then I can only hope we have at least two more quality players due in.

When you can't see the angles on the wall you're in trouble.

Agreed. Pretty smart signings, even if they are flying under the radar a bit.

Dunno, you can never be sure until it all pans out with signings. We've lost loads of money on people like Chamakh and nobody wants to buy them.

It only takes one of, say, 3 low-key signings, to come good for it to be generally worthwhile. If Asapas, other Spanish chap or... Kolo Toure... .... .... come good, then it's not bad business.

What would be far worse is Mikhadriefrfjdf coming in and flopping.

All signings are a gamble, but given Liverpool's income etc, it seems sensible to be buying these sorts of players over big-name expensive players. Rodgers is barmy in front of the camera, but is slowly putting together a decent team (as Kalel said many times last year).

Joe Allen aside, he's spent well. Assaidi [sic] wasn't expensive, iirc.

They actually looked a better team without Suarez. Despite their protestations that he's going nowhere I suspect that Rodgers and the hierarchy have noticed that.
