Hughes to Stoke seems to be gathering some momentum. At least that is one of the three relegation spots sorted.

Thinking about it, it'd be nice if Benteke gave Villa at least one more season. He's certainly got age on his side. I can't see him having a nightmare second season with Villa so I'm sure he'd be allowed to leave next Summer if he feels Villa don't match his ambitions.

I cant imagine there ever being a scenario where Mark Hughes is the man to take a club to the next level.

The only solid link I've heard/read about is the Dortmund one. Otherwise Benteke has been "quoted" as saying he's happy to stay at Villa for the time being and also he's been "quoted" as saying something about not being stuck at a club or some such. So it's all just talk at the moment. I kind of hope he signs a new contract publicly soon so that it stops all the media bullshit.

You are a factory of sadness.

Are you telling me that The Sun might have made something up?

    No. I can't believe it.

His agent said he's happy at Villa too. It's more than likely he was asked a loaded question where whatever answer he gave, he would be seen as wanting out.

Saw murmurings of 12million for Williams, with Vermaelen out for 5million.

Hilarious pricing. Vermaelen hasn't had the best season but still, pfffft!

I don't get why managers like Hughes get to stick around the top level so long. Who looks at the job they have done and thinks 'yep, that's the stuff for me'.

Management is a bit like the England squad, if your face fits you'll keep getting work even if you're shit.

I think Hughes much be a hypnotist or something, I have no idea how he still keeps getting jobs. Stoke are pretty much guaranteed to be in the championship by the end of next season with him. So yeah, Hughes for Stoke!

It is weird isn't it. There's a carousel of 50 year old blokes with a 30% win record.

We've had ten to fifteen years of thinking that if you have no money your options are Allardyce percentage football or relegation, but recently we've had a few rays of light in the form of Swansea and the Argentine lad at Southampton to name a couple that indicate with tactics you can have a bit of culture.

We, for some reason, tend to give great players more credit than they probably deserve as managers.

I know hes not a 'great', per se, but the amount of people asking for Phil Neville as the next everton manager is just crazy.

But, yeah, i said after he got the shove from QPR I would be surprised if Hughes got another top flight job and I stand by that. He probably put the rumours out there himself.

We made him captain, he must be sold at all costs.

The Ashley Williams to Arsenal thing has been a rumour for a while now. Is he that good? He seems to have a fair number of clangers in his arsenal.

I think a lot of the Phil Neville thing is based solely on the fact that Gary Neville is a good pundit.

Adkins, Poyet and a few other Championship managers who also know how to play football, could be worth a punt. Obviously seen as too bigger risk though.

For the record, I have seen literally no Everton fans asking for Neville as manager. It's all about Pereira. Hardly anyone wants Martinez either.

BBC seem to be entertaining themselves during the closed season by posting tweets from weirdos:

Fahad Khan: Di Matteo, Benitez, Poyet, Martinez all available and Stoke decides to consider the manager who solely took QPR to relegation.
Mark Buxton: Stoke shouldn't be too hard on Mark Hughes, Look at AVB at Tottenham.

Lol, Williams for Vermarlen. Good luck making a decent defence with that donkey.

Let's not forget that Williams is a dangerous bloke, he was an inch away from being a bona fide killer.

Williams's book reviewing last season got a great review in WSC. Perhaps there's a perception in some parts that, if a player sounds like he knows what he's talking about off the pitch, that must translate to his performance on it. He's a liability.

I always thought Chico/Angel were the actual talent in the Swans defense whilst Williams was fulfilling the Premier Leagues 'one massive black dude' per team quota.
