I'd love to see him stay, I imagine he's terrifying to play against/with.

    Edit: RE - Frimpong

Ronaldo at Chelsea would mean i only had to direct my hatred in one direction. Saves me effort.

I like Holtby but I don't really get what position he is. Concerns me that he's yet another midfielder who doesn't score goals. Can't really afford those what with our policy of having strikers that don't score goals either.

Didn't someone in this thread say Holtby was going to be player of the season?

Frimpong looks like he'll be a good player from what I've seen of him.
He could be a decent PL player if he manages to curb his temperament and learn some discipline, but I don't think he'll make it at the top level. On his way out of ours, which is a shame as he loves the club.
I always thought he had a whiff of the Bentley about him. Mind you, didn't he have some nasty injury a while back which basically could've ended his career?

Yeah, ACL, twice in 2 seasons, which I think ruined his chances with us. Dunno how he's played for Fulham

I've always understood him to be a box-to-box midfielder full of energy, guile and creativity. Basically, the player Jenas *should* have been and always threatened to be.

    What!?

He looks like he can link well, quick fire pass and move. A bit like kagawa. Dunno..

To be fair, Jenas had some really good games with us. I used to think if he could play like that every game he'd be a great player. Unfortunately for every great game he had he had about 10 shit ones....

@robc84 Indeed. Him and Carrick had a habit of just going missing for about three or four games in a row sometimes.

JJ is basically the posterboy for wasted potential.

I thought that was David Bentley. Or Nik Bendtner. Both immensely talented, but not as good as they think they are or willing to put the hard work in

JJ was as good as anyone on his day (well not quite anyone), its just a shame he never consistently played to that level.

I'm not sure it was ego or laziness with JJ, he just seemed to lack concentration and get caught on the ball a lot.

I called that ages ago and then Ecu made some sort of comment which I said I'd remember, which ironically I don't.
Bad news for Hazard then! (Or whichever out of him, Mata, Ramires, and Oscar play on the left.)

Unless he's being traded for Torres...

It would even make me vom up a little bit in my mouth. After I'd stopped laughing, naturally.

Yeah, I think it's Hazzard on the left. They're all pretty dynamic though so I think they can adapt.

Pig's head found in Kenwyne Jones' locker.

They were probably looking for Sauron's locker...leaving a little sacrifice.

    Damn you Suarez!

in other news, Waddle was a bit OTT, but i know where he's coming from.

I think he was way OTT to say that Beckham wouldn't even make the top 1000 greats. I disagree with him entirely about everything he said to be honest

Is Kenwyne Jones a muslim or something?
  • Deleted user 17 May 2013 19:13:35
Lot of racism in Stoke. I hope it's not motivated by his colour in any way.

Yeah, same here. If Beckham isn't in the top 1000,Waddle isn't in the top 5000. Not that is the argument but still.
  • Deleted user 17 May 2013 19:49:01
It's sort of the subtext to what he said.

You're massively underrating Waddle there btw. He was an incredible player. Different to Beckham but arguably as good.

It's fairly obvious where the bitterness lies though. Waddle's career will always be defined by being England's pariah, whereas Beckham has achieved saintly status at international level. And neither is really that justified to be quite honest.

Waddle was my favourite player growing up. I still have an Italia 1990 shirt upstairs with his name on (even as a Welshman) - fuck, that's 23 years old! Even went as far as buying a Marseille shirt when the only sources back then were mail order ads at the back of WSC. All trees I'm telling you, all trees...

Oh, and reminds me of my favourite fact about Waddle - he once got booked in a Marseille game for falling asleep :D
  • Deleted user 17 May 2013 20:07:52
We bought Linekar and sold Waddle on the same day. That was a very odd emotional conflict.
