Also in the video it says "Buy a United shirt, we'll then use the money to buy back Ronaldo"

Except they have no authority whatsoever deciding what happens to that money. Plus they don't take wages into account.

I'm sort of impressed if it's a scam tbf.

I suspect it isn't a scam. Just a moronic idea conjured in the pub.

They gave him longer than roman would have. To be honest, if I had pumped that much money into the club I would have given him the shove after their disastrous champions league campaign. That was just embarrassing.
He wouldn't have had the chance to win the league of it was me. The way the played in their first season under him would have been enough for me to change tack.

Here is a challenge. Name me one player that either Ancelotti, Mourinho or Mancini has developed and nurtured into a better or world class player? Fergie has scores to his name. Wenger has even more. Heck, even Brendan Rogers has a few to his name.
Mourinho developed Mikel from a promising Attacking Midfielder to a World Cladd Defensive.....benchwarmer.
    Mancini developed.....Balotelli....Sinclair.....erm....Maicon?

Oh, and Kaka, Shevchenko, Pirlo. Three names off the top of my head.
    No to Kaka.
Good shout on Pirlo and Shev. But I think he means nutrured and brought from a very young age. Can't be said of a young Shev, who was known to the whole of Europe (kinda like how Jovetic is now). Did Shev come through the academy?

    Possibly so on Pirlo, though.

If you're going by that reasoning though, how many players has Fergie "nurtured" from a very young age that have gone on to become world-class players in the last decade or so? Ronaldo aside, I can't think of any other names that stand out.

Arsenal actually look like they want this. But they are going to need to get another before the energy goes and they have to sit back a bit.

Aye. There's still hope, but if Wigan do go tonight, only two games of any significance on final day :(. I'm trying to recall a duller final day of the season but I'm struggling, enlighten me EG collective.

Gibbs seems to have McManaman in his pocket at the moment.

I'll be delighted if Wigan get relegated and all this fairytale bullshit is put to bed. Whelan threw shitloads of cash at them to get them into the top flight in a town with almost zero interest in football.

@thedaveeyres are you saying that almost a third of the entire town travelling to Wembley is uninterested?

They now get more attendance than the rugby apparently.

Dave Whelan spent 30m building the DW Stadium in a season where Wigan's average attendance was around 5,000.

In the rise from League 2 to the Premier League, Whelan spent an absolute shitload buying the cream of the crop every single year.

    Fairytale my arse.

I wonder where Maloney will be next season, he has been very impressive in the second half of the season. Maybe he'll start suffering from homesickness again.

Tonnes of footy fans in Wigan, go through there all the time for work (railway). Unfortunately, they're predominantly Liverpool fans, and to a lesser extent MU and City fans!
