Can't see them paying 40mil for him, especially if Ronaldo is already on the way back.

If Levy can get nearly 20m out of a united for Carrick, and over 30m for Berbatov, then I expect the United fee for Bale to be more like 60m.

This. Also, just because Luiz is a cunt, doesn't mean it wasn't a red card.

Also, I truly believe Bale isn't going anywhere. (this year)

Is anyone arguing it made any difference to the Red card? If they are they are a moron.

    Brap, brap, old chap.

Fucking me off that both Arsenal and Chelsea play United once they've stopped giving a shit. You talk about everyone having to play the same the same teams over the same 38 games, but it's not really true when this happens.
Lol this coming from someone who had a go at me for saying the same thing about us having to play wigan and Newcastle when they are desperate for points instead of when you played them.

Your last two games are walkovers, stop moaning.

He probably will if we miss out on CL UNLESS Levy allows AVB to buy a few big players. We need a Striker badly as Defoe is hit and miss and Ade can't just doesn't look interested now.

Need a new LB. Never been a big fan of Benoit who looks to be day dreaming half the time and hell even Walker seems to have gone backwards this season.

Berbatov asked to leave two seasons before he was sold. So did Modric. WHo else is there?

He won't be able to resist the money. Bale will be gone by the end of the January window if Spurs don't get CL this year, which they won't. Almost every one of them is thinking about the holidays already, as they do in May every year.

Bale won't be going anywhere for 2 years purely because of his age. He knows he can leave in 2/3 years time and still have the best of his career. With or without CL

@morriss No Berba packed his bags at the end of one season and pretty much forced the leave at the start of the next. Keane also left leaving us light up front.

Modric left a year after, Carrick was gone by the time the England squad came back from the WC/Euros?

Spurs are known as a selling club sadly.

Berbatov asked to leave after his first season at the club. We sold him after his second.

Yet twice in the game United players waved imaginary cards at the ref for far less than booting someone up in the air

FWIW I think the red was probably a little harsh... it was a tussle probably not too dissimilar to those you see in a lot of games, Luiz went into Rafael quite hard and Rafael reacted badly, but in those circumstances I think a yellow would've sufficed

I don't see why people even mention the smile to be honest, Rafael definitely kicked him, what is a better reaction, to get up and get right in his face? Roll around with a pained expression? Not for me. Luiz generally smiles a lot both on and off the pitch, he could have just been relieved that he won the foul at such a late stage in the game when he was under pressure.

It's not the smile that's the problem.

If he did, as Chelsea fans seem to want to believe, just laugh as he went to ground there would be no complaints. He grabbed his leg and feigned injury, only smiling (while still holding his leg) when he was sure the ref couldn't see he wasn't hurt. He even stops smiling so he can check over his shoulder to see the card being issued without the ref seeing he isn't hurt.

The question then becomes is it against the laws of the game to pretend you are hurt to get a player sent off? I don't know the answer to that.

Either it is a law and it is never enforced because most players have the sense to follow through with their acting so it can't be proven, or it isn't a law and he's just a bit of a cheating cunt.

Luiz is sailing very close to the wind with his constant sly elbows and digs. Sooner or later, he is going to get himself sent off and it could cost Chelsea dearly. It's really in the interests of the club to sort him out. He has got away with a few naughty actions this season but his luck will run out soon enough.

    He's a malicious fucker and it's a shame because he's a good player.

Rafael was daft, that was more akin to what he did 2 years ago. Not really excusable.

But Luiz? Yeah, he's carving himself out a reputation as a bit of an 'orrible cunt.

    Perfect JT replacement.

    Hated, adored, never ignored.

As morriss says, Berba stayed for just over two seasons. Modric joined just before Berba joined and stayed for four full seasons.

I wouldn't necessarily argue with us being a "selling club" but no more so than pretty much any club other than the absolute elite, and probably less so than Arsenal. I'm not really sure it's our reputation in the way you say.

We put up a pretty significant fight are prepared to keep players beyond the point most are. I don't think we're really a club others like to buy players from.

As for whether Bale will go this year, it does depend on the money imo. Levy has probably learned a bit of a lesson from delaying the Modric transfer which cost us 10m, and if a real mega bid came in for Bale I think he would say yes. Would be 50m-60m though imo, otherwise he'll delay it.

If Chelsea beat Spurs on Wednesday evening, does it mean Arsenal and Tottenham will be fighting over the fourth place?

If so, this is going to be so interesting!
