I'm kind of hoping you guys spank Arsenal...
I'm hoping it won't even matter by then.

It would be something of a shame for Wigan to get relegated after clawing to their place in the league for so long. Now the massive money is coming in and they won't get any of it!

    @kalel Well that too.

But this *is* Spurs we're talking about.

FIFA related news. Joao Havelenge has resigned as honorary president as he took bribes in 1997. Thankfully, Blatter has been cleared of any wrongdoing.

Just a little spank? Maybe even a spanklette? Just a light percussive motion would suffice, to be honest.

Just... anything. FOR GOD'S SAKE PLEASE BEAT THEM!

Hah, I've just seen that Garth Crooks has put Steven Reid at right back in his best eleven of this weekends' football. What a joker, clearly he didn't watch last nights match as Lowton played one of the best games from fullback I have seen this season out of anyone. He made something like seven interceptions, made a glorious assist, dominated the right side and defended perfectly.

I also assumed it might be because it was the weekend and didn't include the football last night but Benteke is upfront.

You are a factory of sadness.

@Shikasama If they go down I very much doubt they'll come back up again as Martinez will be off and they'd have no choice but to sell the few decent players they have. And if attendances are poor in the BPL they will only get worse in the Championship.

@Mr_Sleep He probably didn't watch the match as his Benteke write up mentions nothing about the game.

Exactly. Obviously Garth just isn't that interested in watching a Monday night match that doesn't clash with anything else. Probably would have interrupted some much more important thing he was doing, like giving it to Mrs Crooks.

You are a factory of sadness.

And the vultures have started circling. THIS is why so many clubs who get relegated don't come back up - they get carved up by all and sundry and lose their best players.

That said, I don't see anyone rushing in to liberate Chris Samba and his 100k salary from the clutches of QPR.

Its funny to think most teams QPR play next year will have a smaller cumulative weekly wage bill than Chris Samba.

The other question is how often those players that have been picked up from the scraps of a relegated team actually go on to be successful. Someone like Sidwell for instance, he had a mediocre run at Villa and has hardly been near the player he was at Reading since joining Fulham

If they were good enough they wouldn't be playing in a team that gets relegated in the first place.

I don't think that's necessarily true. In Sidwell's case the midfield was based around him and his skillset at Reading whereas when he went to Chelsea and Villa and he was supposed to play second fiddle to some other big name and then he wasn't able to make the impact he did.

Would you say the same about someone like Cabaye should Newcastle be relegated (not that I think they will)?

You are a factory of sadness.

We lost Crouch when we went down and he went on to do quite well.

I don't think you could be more wrong about that tbh. It'll be a blow if they go down, but the structure is there to allow them to come straight back up. They don't pay high wages. Also can't see Bobby going. I mean realistically, which jobs are going to be available in the summer anyway? Stoke? Can't see Chelsea or City going for him. Maybe if Moyes leaves he'd go there I guess.

Nah, if Wigan go down theres very little chance of them coming back up, especially if Martinez buggers off.

To his credit, I think he will give them a season, but even then its not going to be easy by any means. Wigan have sold their best players every year since they came up. If they do that this year, they are fucked.

I'm sure there's the odd exception in the 75 players that go down every year :)

I'm really worried that Norwich will go down. They've lost all momentum. I can see them picking up no more points from here on in. Of course, that may be enough if your Sunderlands and your Wigans don't pick up any more either, but I think they're much more capable at the moment.

I'm fairly convinced Kone, Maloney and Jordi Gomez will be gone whether or not they stay up.
