That would be something I agree with. But it kind of implies that SAF didn't buy the league, he strengthened his side to the point where it would win.
Theres really no difference other than semantics, unless he strengthened the squad from youth players and free transfers.

I think people generally agree that City and Chelsea's players are better than Utd's... So why can't he take massive credit for trouncing them?

His GK is (supposedly) worse, his defence is (supposedly) worse, his midfield is (supposedly) worse. So only his attack would be argued to be better and how many would argue that Aguero, Tevez, Dzeko and Balotelli were massively inferior to RVP, Rooney, Hernandez and Welbeck (at the beginning of the season).

Yes he signed a great player to help his team, but what did Chelsea and City do? Sit on their hands and whistle? Both spent more than Utd in the summer.

Giroud's appeal declined by the FA.

The man who chaired the FA Disciplinary Committee meeting today? Manchester United club secretary, John Alexander. :D

Not meant as a troll, but I'm not sure why a United employee would care what happens to Arsenal, really.

Be thankful that Man Utd won the FA cup in 1990 (I think) or who knows what type of club they would have become.

Also be thankful that Michael Knighton never bought the club when the deal was all but done.

They would have all had cool cars at the club, though.

By the way, did anyone catch Ferguson saying Phil Jones could be the best ever United player?

Wasn't about us/Giroud, I just find it amazing that an employee of an active PL club has a say in such matters. Surely the decisions should be made by people who are wholly independent from any club? What if it was a City player and the title was still being competed?

It's a bit like Dein having a say in how the FA was run when he was still at Arsenal.

Berbatov is one that baffled me. He fought tooth and nail to turn the player's head and made him their most expensive signing all time and then what? Didn't fancy him? You'd think scouting could have covered that off, if it was something he saw up close that he was unaware of. And left for nothing too while now banging them in for Fulham.

All very odd. Him and Bebe. WTF was that all about?
Also, Fergie can't develop African players (African strikers at least).

I wonder if Van Persie will do something sickeningly romantic in the Arsenal game like not come out until the Guard of Honour is completed.

I think a muted celebration is a given (blllurgg)

Also, much to the dismay of lazy journalists everywhere, Gotze has become the most expensive German of all time by agreeing to move to Bayern this summer for 31m

Up until a year ago John Alexander used to be club secretary at Spurs :D

Giroud had no grounds for an appeal, lucky not to get an extra match added for it being frivolous.

Course he had grounds, he slipped FFS!

Seem to remember another appeal we put in where the panel was something like Gary Mabbutt, Mickey Hazard and Frank Stapleton (OK, I made that last one up). Ridiculous!

    Klopp on the Gotze move.

Klopp: "Gotze was the player Guardiola wished to sign.
"So if it's anyone's fault it's mine. I cannot make myself 15cm smaller and learn Spanish. Gotze wants to work with this extraordinary coach that is Guardiola.
"I cannot preach football of quick transitions and now start playing Tiki Taka."

Wow, all this Suarez shit made me forget that there is CL football on tonight. Just stumbled upon the pregame show. Strange feeling being surprised to find out a semi-final between Munich and Barcelona is on in 45 minutes.

I like Klopp! Great charisma, and great to watch! Loved his interview of the Malage match.

Edit: Oh yes, and his brand of football, and what he's done at Dortmund also!

Would love Klopp at Arsenal afer Wenger leaves.
Maybe when he gets sick of BM stealing his players, he will come to us. So he can get sick of City stealing his players.

Suarez accepts FA charge (err, sort of...):

Luis Suarez has accepted a charge of violent conduct following an incident with Chelsea’s Branislav Ivanovic in Sunday’s fixture at Anfield.

However, Suarez has denied The FA’s claim that the standard punishment of three matches is clearly insufficient for this offence.

The incident was not seen by the match officials and has therefore been retrospectively reviewed – click here for a video explanation of ‘not seen incidents’.

An Independent Regulatory Commission will hear the case tomorrow, Wednesday 24 April.

I've got a feeling they might throw the book at him. I'd be delighted if he got 15+ games.

I hate that Suarez did what he did and it was embarrassing so don't call me biased, but a 10 game ban is pathetic, considering he got only 8 for apparently being racist? So biting someone which obviously wasn't that hard of a bite is worse than racism? Hmmm yeah good one FA.
