And we need him to smash Wigan next weekend.

I think Vertonghan is my favourite non-united player in the league.

Based on yesterday, Nasri should have been sent off there.

Yeah it was a bit like Giroud's except without any discernible contact.

It was 'harsh' but I totally understand why it was given.

He went over the ball. Whether he slipped or fell or whatever, he went over the ball and unfortunately caught the player. It's harsh, he definitely 100% didn't mean it, but I still think it's the right decision to have sent him off.
The ref just got it wrong, he's seen it as a dangerous tackle and not the accident that it was.

Back to the actual laws of the game regarding careless/reckless/excessive force.

"Careless" means that the player has shown a lack of attention or consideration when making his challenge or that he acted without precaution:
no further disciplinary sanction is needed if a foul is judged to be careless

"Reckless" means that the player has acted with complete disregard of the danger to, or consequences for, his opponent:
a player who plays in a reckless manner shall be cautioned

"Using excessive force" means that the player has far exceeded the necessary use of force and is in danger of injuring his opponent:
a player who uses excessive force shall be sent off
He tried to turn on the ball and slipped over, it's an accident. You can still be sent off for accidents, if it's deemed that you use excessive force when making the tackle. In fact, this is exactly what Sidwell did and he was correctly sent off. For Giroud though, you couldn't say he used excessive force. In fact, as a legitimate attempt to play the ball in which he slipped, you couldn't even say it was reckless, let alone excessive. Does someone need to be banned for three games for this? IMO, no.

@EuroStalker Pretty sure owners of football clubs don't read the PL thread in the EG Forum.

    Unless.....

Okay, Loathe is a bit strong :) I don't like Liverpool or Chelsea
I like Spurs. They're harmless, yet pretentious.

Is there a bigger waste of space in football than Adebayor?

One day someone at Spurs will mention that Bale simply doesn't work down the middle.

Will be interesting to see if he can re-establish his lead in total league goals over Mertesacker before the end of the season.

Owners of football clubs be warned. 'arry will bring you down to your knees while he runs off to get a tan.

'arry cannot read (by his own admission). Do not give him any more jobs. I'm sure he's milked enough money out of clubs to survive on.

Has to be a straight red for BAE for that two footed lunge. Spurs get all the decisions!

Why did Kompany just stop there? Great teasing ball from Bale though.

Not sure I really rate Kompany (I'm sure he'll be destroyed, etc.). Every time I watch him he seems to either make a gaffe or a bad challenge.
