Basically make it in to an American sport for ADD yanks. I'll pass. He's right on the "flopping" but the rest is dumb. Anyone suggesting a shot clock and removing the possibilities of a draw doesn't understand the game.
    What a toss article.

Sport isn't always about big bangs and whizzes. It's about discipline and care as well. If it's boring, don't watch it.

    Sorry, what?

Game's on TV here tomorrow. I hate football, atm. Really not up for this run-in at all.

5 points off second place. In the quarters of the Europa.

    How ungrateful can you get?

Suspect a large amount of the cost for the tech is the licensing. Of course, as has been said, there are also the middle men. But as someone else posted on the BBC, the cost comes in at around 230k per team. Nothing really.

It's not like this ridiculous 5 referee thing comes cheeap either. Maybe not £56m over 5 years expensive but still a fair few quid.

It's pathetic how one man and his cronies' opinions count over thousands of players, coaches, managers, fans, officials...

The technology is there. Use it. When the inevitable happens - maybe in the next round of the Champions League, the victim club would appreciate it.

It's the fear innit. Cold dark horrible fear. Running rough their entire fan base, their entire team, their back room staff. FEAR.

You can’t have the world if you don’t capture America.
    Stopped reading after that.

Can't stand Jarhead "'Murka HOO-RAA" attitude.

Edit: Decided to give it another go.

First recommendation? "A great place to start? How about the elimination of the whole “stoppage time” nonsense."

So a team winning 1-0 can run down the clock with 20 mins to go by just holding it in their corner? That makes it more exciting?

Other than the diving/fopping comment, the rest of was just retarted 'Murika ADD attitude to sports. Suprised he didn't want more blood, just for the "Just Bleed/Just Bang Bro" crown in the USA.

Been a really poor league this season. I think the Sky money that's due next season has had a big bearing on most teams.

We're (Stoke) are on ESPN tomorrow unfortunately. We've got a garbage away record and are playing just as bad at home. Really want this season to be over.

In the 'how to improve soccer' comments, someone says '120 million people watched the Superbowl, 690 million watched the Premier League decider'.

Is that right? It's a heck of a stat if it is true...

Although, apparently a billion people watch when India play Pakistan at the cricket... which would suggest all sports could be improved by playing them in your pyjamas!

it wouldnt surprise me if the 690m number was a lot higher, i've been to some strange places on this planet and people watched the football, islands in the indian ocean where fishermen who were up at dawn would stay up past midnight to watch all the big european league/cup games in their football shirts, the majority of which were Premier League teams

I watched the CL final on a beach in the Maldives, just a little bit away from the sea, at about 3am in the morning when Liverpool came back from behind to win it. I got bitten by sandflies, but had a great time with the waiters and cleaners on the island and kept them plied with beer that night. Well, those that were prepared to drink it.

Football is indeed shown in some very remote and wonderful places.

Feel rather sorry for him tbh. He had to watch that dross every weekend.

As for the viewing numbers? The last WC final got pretty much half the world's population to watch it, so I wouldn't be surprised at the 690mil number.

I watched the CL 05 final in a shack on stilts on the sea in Honduras.

    FU Superbowl!

and yes, cricket shows the light. Although the IPL is hardly a Test match...

Utd - Liverpool in the league this season supposedly had a worldwide audience of 500m people, and that was just Utd vs. some midtable shite. Football is huge.

    Yup. Football is great.

In my personal 'Top 1,000 Best Stuff Ever' list football comes in just above potatoes. Which is pretty f**king high up the list.

Basically means that, given a choice between a universe with football and no potatoes or a universe with both chips and roast potatoes but no football, I would take the football.

    Football is great.

Although, actually, I am hungry right now.

Might have to revise that list...

Yep, a one man team winning an awfully average league shite vs. mid table shite. A great advert for the game.

Think of how stupid the average person is, and realise half of them are stupider than that

Rumour going round that Lloris has a broken arm and is out for the season.

Yeah, if the defence sit on the edge of the area. Unfortunately ours play just off the halfway line.
