    Interesting, obstruction is no longer in the laws of the game. Impeding the progress of an opponent is. See Law 12.

    There's a point at which it's past the point of being reasonable sure, but I think generally goalies get an awful lot going their way. 90% of 50/50s with a goalie will go in their favour. Any kind of jumping into the goalie isn't allowed where it would be fine on an outfield player etc etc. I don't really see why they should get so much protection personally. They give as good as they get.

    It was a yellow but I feel it was harsh and Garcia really played for the sending off

    Edit : it was Pienars fault of course but it just didn't seem so bad in real time

    Contact was minimal but you don't go in studs up like that when you're on a yellow. Stupid play.

    Why was milner not booked there.  Poor refereeing.

    That's the kind of inconsistency that's really frustrating

    It's true, they do get a lot going their way in open play, I'm not sure it's true of corners these day as they barely get involved in corners as they can't move from their line as there's a player backing into them.

    I might be exaggerating somewhat as it might well be something like confirmation bias in that I see the obstruction but I don't notice when it isn't happening.

    My problem with it is that it is stopping the competition for the ball, if the players craft a good corner and score a goal then great but corners seem to primarily be about obstructing the goal keeper and then bundling the ball in, rather than making something special.

    Yea you can't really argue with the sending off but I think Garcias conduct was poor.  I know players do it quite a lot but you knew there was nothing wrong with him.
