    Which is also true.

I'm kind of glad I'm going to be busy today and driving around 3pm, I'm not confident against QPR, they seem to be showing some form and Harry has sorted out many of their problems.

Still, they are bottom of the league and we are on an up turn of form so it's not a nailed on result for QPR. I almost wish this match was an away match, there's going to be so much pressure on the players from the Holte so it might go against the young nervous team.

Also, Benteke needs to have a big game today, him against Samba is going to be quite bruising, it's going to be a big test of him and the rest of the team, the platform is not going to be as prominent as it was against Reading so the rest of the team is going to have to pull something together.

You are a factory of sadness.

Does Lawro watch different games to the rest of us?

Tottenham looked a very good side for an hour or so at Anfield on Saturday, but a couple of moments of quality won it for Liverpool.
Didn't watch the game at all, but can't say I agree, spurs were shite

Why Mancini plays 5 at the back, I'll never know.

Everton have been magnificent in the first half, well worth the lead.  By rights they should be two up but for a poor call from the linesman.

    The fellaini one?

Perhaps, but wouldn't be happy if that was given against one of our defenders. Certainly not nailed on.

3 up should the pen have been given for the blatant Fellani obstruction. Something has to be done to stamp out the wrestling in the box, it's a cancer on the modern game.

If they're going to start penalising for wrestling in the box Fellaini really shouldn't be a beneficiary.

You're right, referees should start giving decisions based on the players involved and how much they like them.

Someone on redcafe said Kolarov and Javi Garcia cost more than the entire Everton XI combined..

Doesn't matter, you see 2 or 3 token penalties given every season for holding or obstruction in the box but it happens every week. It's time to start giving penalties every time and stop it for good.

But it was a foul. You couldn't complain if that was given against your team, the only argument is that they're not always given, as we just saw..

Obstruction is an indirect free kick. Someone should tell Gloddle too.

No, just the amount of wrestling he gets away with it would be quite an injustice if he got a penalty for something like the call in the first half.

Obstruction results in an in-direct free kick, so not a penalty even if it's given.

What's the guy suppose to do, run out the way? He stood his ground and Fellani dropped to his the instant he lost the ball.

Grabbing, holding or dragging a player is a foul and not obstruction.

I agree, corners are now a bit of a joke. The goalkeeper is obstructed and the players hold onto each other in the box. Every team does it and it's just ugly and destructive. It's time for the FA to step in. They wont and it'll be exactly the same next season.

You are a factory of sadness.

You're the one who called it obstruction... Personally think that could go either way.

People seem to have a real bee in their bonnet over this these days. Honestly not convinced anything has ever changed in this respect. Corners and set-pieces have always been physical.
  • Deleted user 16 March 2013 13:57:09
It's the only part of the game that still is really. The number of fouls give for utter bullshit now no wonder people complain when you see people being actually wrestled about.

I certainly do have a bee in my bonnet about it. It's not the physicality that is the problem, it's the blatant fouls that are the problem. The shirt pulling and the hugging that seems to be pretty rife. I'm not sure, for the most part, it is really that much worse than it used to be but I don't recall the obstruction of goal keepers being quite so prevalent in previous seasons.

You are a factory of sadness.

Italian football has always had physicality and holding in the penalty box but it wasn't imported to the uk until the late nineties around the same time as the "contact, dive, roll, hold leg like it has been snapped in two" which was more a South American trait,
