This guy is funny, can we keep him?

I am the only one who found the demo to be pretty meh? Just didn't feel that good, I might give it another go with a wheel.

Act like a dumbshit and they will treat you as an equal

I thought it was shit actually. Felt soulless, empty and boring. And to think I bought a PS2 for GT3.

The more I play, the more I like it. Got my time down to 2.30 or so. Not especially great or anything but decent for someone who's usually shit at driving games.

3 was the zenith, imo. This one just feels so by the numbers. Going to go with F1 instead.

By the numbers is bang on. It's Gran Turismo, but there's no new ideas there at all. Heck, even the quick loading menus are disguised- try loading up the start immediately, it'll wait for a sec or so while it continues to load things up.

That said, I managed a solid couple of hours on it the other day, with the wheel, and the old Gran Turismo lap-after-lap magic is still there, it's just a shame nothing else new is.

I'll keep an eye on it, if the cockpit framerate is fixed- my preferred way to play- and if there aren't 200 odd properly done cars and then 3 bazillion filler cars with generic cockpits and if the multiplayer feels like it was conceived this century, I might be interested. That's a loooong list though ;)

Found the severe frame drops a bit of a shock to the system to be honest. If they don't sort that for release version it'll be the first GT (apart from Prologue) that I'll give a miss.

As someone who's recently come over from Xbox, I'm having difficulty adjusting to this games handling when compared to forza, I can't seem to feather the throttle on the PS3's controller, the 360 triggers were much better for fine control, I seem to be doing full throttle, 50% throttle or none. Is it better to use the shoulder buttons or the facebuttons for throttle?

Right stick throttle/brake with additional brake on L1. Try it.

Quite like the Nissan demo. I can get bronze on the four individual sections of track.

2:23:9 is the best I can do at the moment, that Maggotts section is going to feel amazing if I can ever get it right!

There's something weird going on at the very edge of grip though, I agree. I can occasionally get into long and very shallow slides one way, then the other, then back again etc and once it's started it never catches again- I can slide forever.
On top of that, I downloaded the fastest current ghost (at 2:16) and, basically that driver is using that to drift their way around the corners, just literally pitching the car sideways and sliding through the corners in order to save on braking and have the nose pointed in the right direction for the exit. For a sim that is supposed to be realistic, that is a problem. I'd love to see them try that in real life.

That's exactly the same problem that was apparent in the GT5 time trials. Hadn't realised it was still a thing in the GT6 demo. At least I have my excuses now :)

They had the Goodwood Hill running on demo pods yesterday at the Festival of Speed, great fun. For me the handling felt significantly improved over previous games, I hated the way slower stuff handled before (far preferred Forza for that) but it felt a lot better.

Lucky you. I really wanted to go this year. I guess there's always 2014.

I'm sure I read someplace here on EG that a Spanish track was dropped from GT5 due to issue's over the use of a flag PD didn't have permission to use. Was the issue ever resolved? as it seems a waste to have a whole track sitting collecting dust.

The kart track in Italy? No, that was never resolved. At least they never released the track as DLC.

Im out of touch with sim hardware, last time i considered a wheel the Driving Force GT had just come out!

What's a good wheel, with decent force feedback, but not too old so that it'll likely be supported on next gen consoles?

I'm using a Driving Force Pro at the moment, pedals have been fixed for the 10% brake on thing a few times and its getting tired, and, though I loved the force feedback on the PC, it feels a bit dead on the GT games. I'm fairly sure, FFB must have improved in the 10 years since it was made so that I can gain more detail from the wheel?

Thrustmaster T500RS looks awesome, but £400+?

G27, does that have pedals with metal parts for longevity?

Fanatec CSR really appeals, but with the all metal pedal set, I'm up at Thrustmaster cost again :-(

It was the Siena track, at first they removed the flags, then the whole track.

CSR wheel and pedal set is what I have got my eye on £160 for the wheel £70 for the pedals ain't quite as bad as £400, they work with PS and Xbox, and hopefully the new machines when they come out.

But still a lot of money

I do like that cross platform compatibility a lot. I genuinely felt like a change and thought I'd grab an Xbox next gen... that said though, totally put off now so it's probably less of a selling point.

Fanatec are a clear fave for serious kit, factoring cost in, though, I really want to move away from plastic pedals-even well made ones like the Fanatecs- as they really are the weak link. So, with the clubsport pedals, I'm up there are Thrustmaster cost again.

So much cash, ugh. Though, I should really think about how many years my DFP has given me (about 8) and that's not a lot divided up on a year by year basis.

Can't quite bring myself to click "buy" still...
