i think its the ads causing the problem, it takes ages to load them. i have to cancel once the forum is loaded.

Well, it only started for me once the LA Noire review went up - so, putting 2 and 2 together...

God it's terrible tonight. About two and a half minutes to load a page of content from the front page, and 57 seconds to load a page on the forum, as the test below shows. It's too painful to use. No other site I'm accessing is having the same issue, so clearly an EG thing and not my router/broadband.

Has that fucking awful tracking spyware shit made its way back? As that impacted on the speed of the site last time.

For now I'll have an evening off of EG and try again tomorrow.

Is there some major gaming event on? Anyone know?

I think there may be some kind of press conference or something.

And that should impact on the speed of the site....how?

Submitting some extra articles wouldn't exactly make the speed drop. And 661 registered users online is less than weekends and some other nights. Unless we've got a shit load of unregistered users accessing the site, which is unlikely even with the coverage (and the servers should be able to cope with increased traffic) there's no real explanation for it that I can see.

Oh and the fact that it runs like a dog other nights E3 isn't on.

It's handling this E3 better than it has done in recent years.

See above. Low registered user count. Yes we may have a lot of unregistered users, but again why does that explain the evenings when we don't have E3 on? The last time it went this slow it was that spyware stuff (the survey) that just kept popping up on users. It could be that again.

If it was only tonight I'd say without doubt it was E3, but it's not just tonight.

It's the biggest time in gaming, of course the site's going to suffer a bit. I imagine this'll be the time where EG receives its highest traffic of the year.

And I've found it to be fine anyway. Some problems near the beginning of the conference, but it's been peachy after that.

That's a bit quicker. That's 31 secs compared to 57 secs. Still slow.

And again, as I say, what about the other nights when E3 isn't on?
