HE made me whoop and holler like a red neck!
What a game. The number of stand out scenes is just staggering.

If you can read this you really need to fiddle with your forum settings.

Ikaruga was pretty awesome on gc, but tricky to get a hold of.

My top 3 would be Zelda Wind Waker, Resident Evil 4 and the Resident Evil remake. Special mention goes to Twilight Princess as well.

That Ikaruga made the leap from Dreamcast, where it didn't see the light of day outside Japan, to the UK gamecube definitely makes it a worthwhile addition here.

I do own it but my scores are less than hardcore. I also used to turn my big fat crt telly on its side to play it. Silly man.

First and Last and always. No game will ever come near it for me. It's such an influential title as well. People jus dont realize it.

Probably mentioned a gazillion times already, but have to say it again: Metroid Prime. What a game.

Double Dash, Wind Waker, Bomberman, Resi 4, SM Sunshine, in that order.

LB, you really are a massive geek.

Resident Evil 4 and Metroid Prime. Can't choose between 'em.

Other than that... Viewtiful Joe, Metroid Prime 2: Echoes and The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker.

Super Mario Sunshine wasn't bad, but it really wasn't top-tier Mario. A let-down.

Great console, better than the PS2?
  • Deleted user 9 February 2012 16:30:17
I'd say it was, although the PS2 had some amazing games the GC just shades it.

The Gamecube's best titles are better than almost anything on the PS2, but the PS2 has a lot of unpolished gems in its expanded lineup. If you've got the time to hunt through them, the PS2 was the better choice, but if you wanted the creme de la creme the gamecube was better (provided you didn't especially want to play many FPSes).

Cubby didn't know how to turn off sigs!

Monkey Target.  Was a renaissance in super mario kart type gaming.  So many lost evenings playing that with my flat mate while smoking and drinking red wine.

Fucking hell, is this thread still going?

We all know it was Eternal Darkness so is everyone just arguing over second place or something?

Without a shadow of a doubt! Also my favorite RPG ever. MGS: The Twin Snakes also gets a 10/10 from me and I must have spent hundreds of hours playing Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life.

Luigi's Mansion. It just felt like such a breath of fresh air, matched only by Resident Evil 4 (another brilliant GameCube title) in terms of how innovative it was for the survival horror genre. I loved it and eagerly await the sequel.

Other honorable mentions include Legend of Zelda: Windwaker, Sonic Adventure 2: Battle (although only the Sonic/Shadow levels were really that good), Mario Sunshine, Billy Hatcher and Super Smash Bros. Melee. Oh and Super Monkey Ball. We need another 'proper' Super Monkey Ball game on a home console ASAP.
