Can we stage public executions on Wednesdays to whittle down the mongcount? Everyone has to ululate and fire their AK47 wildly into the air afterwards.

Sounds like a plan.
I want an ad-free, paid-for version of Eurogamer.
Several weeks back I mentioned in a nearby thread about being able to have more options in the game collection for those of us with backlogs. At the moment its either owned or played, but how about choices that reflect how much you've played, linked to your profile page so you can choose 'currently playing' and its there under the profile avatar.
Couple things, more about the community on this forum, any way we can sort out threads that have lost the opening poster? The reason I ask leads into my second thought about having official threads like on neogaf.
A few weeks before release in Europe for the most popular games (say games with a prerelease thread over a certain number of pages) instead of using the same thread, a member volunteers to set up an new official thread with a write up and plenty of links. I reckon it would be a very handy primer so people can find out as much as possible about the game if it has so far passed them by..
Would people here be up for it? -

Registered 7 years agoAgree about the game collection suggestions. Worth allowing users to insert their Raptr or Backloggery codes into their profile pages?ツ

Registered 6 years agoWouldn't mind a 'spoiler' symbol for news and videos on the front page. It doesn't happen too often but every now and again EG or a trailer reveals a detail that takes the shine off a new game, making me wary of clicking on articles relating to up-coming titles. -
I'm back. Thanks for all your feedback so far.
One idea we're toying with is introducing EG widgets in the style of Twitter, Facebook and Last FM.
Essentially, we'd provide some embed code that readers could then use on their own blogs and websites. The widgets could show a variety of things such as profile info (game collection, what you've been playing etc), EG content (news and other features which you could filter by platform) or maybe your reader submitted content (reviews, FAQs etc).
The question is, is this something you'd use?"sounds like a public school ponce"

Registered 6 years agoFor what it's worth, those video ads you have on the articles is a complete pain at work, what with the continuous loop of lashing and explosions. Ended up not reading a few because of it.
So put me down for a paid-add-free, work-safe EG!

Registered 6 years agoNo, if there is anything I wanted to highlight I'd link to it by hand and any tests or FAQs I might write I could just as well publish myself on my website without linking back to EG. -

And a big +1 to the current video ads - I've pretty much stopped watching EG videos because of them. Surely a limit to the number of times a video is played to each user per day is in order?
I'm unlikely to buy AssCreed2 having seen the advert once. I'm infinitely unlikely to buy it having been forced to endure its shitness for the sixth time in a single day.
I guess you're paid by ad impressions, but even so. -

Registered 7 years agoNot site specific but could you pass it on to the 'journos' at EG and, probably more likely, DF, that it would be interesting to have more details/measurements of netcode behaviour in games that have an online component (i.e. shooters)?
I'm a network research engineer by trade and it pains me to see article after article about how pretty/lousy games look, while neglecting the very thing that could make or break it. Come on, I know DF could do something...they do after all have measurement equipment for almost everything else

Registered 4 years agoI seem to be getting the 'About, How To, Staff etc' bit of the website sprawled across the page when I click on Forum Threads button right now which is definitely a feature that needs sorting.
I'm using Chrome on a Macbook Pro if that is of any bearing?
It doesn't do it when I choose Group threads or Interesting Threads though weirdly.
Edit: It actually seems to have righted itself now, so I assume some of the tech guys were just fiddling about with something or other. -
