Any numbers on how many people have turned up yet?

There were 100k at Beck's rally, right?

It wasn't even half that, was it? FOX just reported that more people turned up.

Actually was about 90,000. Beck, FOX and other news outlets estimated 300,000-500,000.

    So far so uneventful.
    Who are these guys then?
  • Deleted user 30 October 2010 17:11:59
Aren't Comedy Central the people who show The Daily Show and The Colbert Report?

So it's probably around the same as the Beck rally, maybe a little less.

It's the non-Fox-aligned media's Lighthearted Optimistic Liberal faction's big play for the hearts and minds of Frightened American Reactionary Thinkers.

Hmmm. I was expecting more speaking, less singing. Unless they have dug out Tom Lehrer, in which case I he can sing all he wants.

A strange game. The only winning move is not to play.

Guess they'll do a bit of both. That's what they promised, anyway, which was music and comedy.

Not going to have Stewart and Colbert up there talking for three hours.

Hey, I've been to Washington this time of year. It can be pretty cold. This is a very scientific, literal warming up by the Mythbuster guys. I think it's charming.

A strange game. The only winning move is not to play.

That is a big crowd. I'm actually quite amazed by just how big that crowd is. It looks like the million man march, but with actually a million people.

Hats off to them for mobilising the crowd an all but I just tuned in for a horrible unfunny bit of Stewart and Colbert as into to these love train guys.

Stewart had Yusuf (Cat Stevens) singing Peace Train on stage and Colbert had Ozzy singing Crazy Train but they kept interrupting each other.

It's a direct response to Glenn Beck's "Restoring Honor" rally at the end of August

I think it's basically a protest about the rightwing media's grip on the political media through fear and scaremongering. I have no idea if it will change anything, but fair play to them for trying.

A strange game. The only winning move is not to play.
