If you can live with Deadpool being completely ruined, and Wolverine's origin being totally rewritten, you *might* enjoy it. But it's about as faithful to the source material as my other half is to written recipes*.

Like, how are they going to deal with his wife - dead, alive, never existed?

Wolverine's entire history in the comics is one long fuckup of retcon after retcon because the writers never knew what to do with him. He was literally intended to be a mutated Wolverine originally, FFS (something to do with the High Evolutionary). Sabretooth was meant to be his father, the whole "adamantium coated his claws" thing, the whole "Weapon X is just a roman numeral", etc...

A small change to his marital status in the films will be nothing compared to the car crash of his comic continuity.

Should make it like the game & get it an 18 rating.

The Resident Evil films. I'm one of the reasons they keep making them.

It seems that this will be more down to Marvel now having proper creative control over the film versions of their characters - they are largely moving away from established film continuity. Hence why Spidey is being rebooted, and why X-Men are being rebooted. Every modern marvel film is now tied into a shared universe and they all reference each other.

It wouldn't surprise me if the Spidey and Wolvie reboots end up tying into the filmic Avengers continuity. They are (modern) Avengers after all.

Marvel don't own the licenses to Spiderman or any of the Xmen so don't expect them to be in an Avengers film of any kind in the next 10-15 years.

I thought they did now? I thought the formation of Marvel Film Studios brought with it the ownership of how their IPs are treated on film?

    *goes to check*

And Spiderman and Xmen being rebooted has absolutely nothing to do with Marvel.

Ditto for Daredevil (I know the first attempt at a film was terrible but it's a character with good film potential).

Just read up, and it seems you are right.

    Bummer.

Daredevil would be absolutely bloody awesome in the right hands (thinking of the Miller or Bendis runs). It looks like we are destined to have ol' horny forever defined on screen by Ben fucking Affleck.

    DAMMIT!

Who is the new Deadpool film being done by?

As I talked more about the film with my collaborators at Fox, it became clear that the production of The Wolverine would keep me out of the country for almost a year. I was not comfortable being away from my family for that length of time.

Stealth: "Fox are twats who wouldn't let me make the film the way I wanted to make it, like they do with every other big franchise film they get their grubby little fingers on"

Aronofsky sacred of filming in Japan, maybe? Can't really blame him.

It was due to be filmed throughout Europe.

I think the "Wolverine goes to Japan" story got scrapped a while ago in favour of someone else's screenplay.

It seems that Aronofsky decision was made 3 weeks ago. I bet he only agreed to make Wolverine should he could get access to bigger budgets but after the huge success of Black Swan he probably wonīt have any problem in getting the budgets he wants.

I'm sure you get all your news from your imagination. The writer was always Christopher McQuarrie and it was always set in Japan.

Some of the filming was due to be on location.

Can't say I'm too gutted he's off. Didn't see him as a suitable fit at all.
I remember when everyone was saying "Oh, Gavin Hood's directing Wolverine, that means it'll be a real classy, intelligent, action movie, rather than the usual braindead comic adaptation" Yeah, not quite huh? Turned out to be a huge pile of wank.
They need a director with real action chops on the next Wolverine.

The director is less of an issue than the studio. I suspect their interference may have had something to do with this.

Indeed. A director with some clout and a point of view helps. Or not in the case of Aronofski.

Apparently it was a question of control, Aronofsky wanted it but Fox wouldnīt give it to him.

Duncan Jones is meeting with Fox about the possibility of him directing Wolverine.

The quotes from Jones sounded like he was just going to the meeting so not to burn bridges as opposed to having any actual interest in it. I'm sure if the dollar signs are right though....

I actually donīt want him to get the job, it could do more harm than good to his career.
