Friday night the anti-piracy law firm ACS:Law accidentally published its entire email archive online, effectively revealing how the company managed to extract over a million dollars (636,758.22) from alleged file-sharers since its operation started. On average, 30% of the victims who were targeted paid up, and this money was divided between the law firm, the copyright holder and the monitoring company.

30% actually paid up? No wonder he's rolling in it!

You'd be surprised how worried people get about threatening letters. That's how debt collection companies make their money, through threatening letters, but they'd never actually send a bailiff round as that costs money and when they buy the debts so cheap it's no worth it for them. They just enough people will be scared enough to pay up that it's profitable for them.
Yup it really is bad. Half the people I have to deal with have come in because they are about to be kicked out their house because all their money has been going to debt collection agencies that have been using threatening letters and knowcking on their door so of course they are convinced they are the number one priority debt. All the while their rent arrears are just getting worse and worse.

I do love arguing with them on the phone though. Cunts.

A list of more than 8,000 Sky broadband subscribers and a second of 400 PlusNet users surfaced following a security breach of legal firm ACS:Law.

It comes after a database of more than 5,000 people suspected of downloading adult films emerged yesterday.

I hope you enjoy bankruptcy you inept motherfuckers.

I doubt that's a new leak. A chunk of their email archive is floating around t'internet. It just takes someone with the motivation to trawl it for information. The other day it was someone with a thing against people torrenting porn. Today it's someone who just has something against Sky or Sky subscribers, or Plusnet or Plusnet subscribers who torrent, or were suspected of torrenting.

ohai! \o/ It gave me something to do last night whilst the other half watched her Big Brother DVD.

It's definitely the same one. There was two spreadsheets for Sky (that I found), one contained names and addresses and the other didn't. Plusnet was there too as was Easynet. It really is quite the nugget if people can be bothered to look through all the subfolders too.

As well as quite a few employees sending emails saying they wished to resign or are sorry they never turned back up but they didn't want to work for ACS any longer. Oh and I found out he signed up to E-Harmony whilst planning to buy a property with his other half...whilst sending emails to his ex-wife (of 14 years apparently) calling her a drug-riddled whore or something like that. Classy man!

Dude, you need to email me that file when you get home. PLEASE. I, erm, don't torrent anymore. That's why I am not.

This is fantastic. That cunt came out and said he's more worried about missing a train, and now look at his shitty website. Fuck this cunt. I don't have a problem with firms looking out for file sharers, but he's getting fucking 'owned' and I love to see it.

This is fantastic. That guy came out and said he's more worried about missing a train, and now look at his 2nd rate firm's website. Screw them anyway. I don't have a problem with firms looking out for file sharers, but he's getting what he's owed due to not following the ethical standards he is supposed to adhere to, and it's nice to see him get some comeuppance.

Basically you mean't he total cunt and should throw himself under a train and end his fucking worthless life now.

Hell no, I don't want that. I do think he is a total fucking scumbag, I've been reading about this firm for ages, but at the end of the day he's just pushed it a little bit too far, and I've met enough of these 'untouchable' solicitors to love to see one of them get busted. I wrote some reports on the Digital Economy Bill when I was at law school for a barrister who was getting in on the consultation process, but it isn't his field. Hell, it's not mine either, but I am beyond fascinated and excited about what's happening. It's fucking great!

So of course, the best thing for her to do would be an interview for the BBC web site and provide them with a photo of her semi-nude. Genius.

I think some people (maybe even Anonymous) are emailing the people they can find email addresses for via ACS inboxs. Specifically the ones that have paid, just to tell them that they might have a chance to get this money back... or even cancel the payment if it hasn't been processed yet.
