I know a lot of you have had bad home delivery situations and I have read a few of your problems on this very site.

Today I have had one of my own and I thought this might be a good thread to name and shame the company’s that have let you down and how they did it…

I ordered a new king size bed from Bensons for Beds lat mont for £1500. It’s the most I have ever spent on a bed and twice what I wanted to spend and for that price i was hoping for GREAT service.

When I ordered it at the shop I was told they could deliver in a few weeks on the 20th September (Today) and they would call me on my mobile 30 mins before delivery because I would be at work and this would give me time to get home and open up.

I got a text from Bensons on Saturday, saying it would be delivered between 08:00am and 13:00pm today.

I was at my desk all morning and my mobile did not ring.

At 13:15pm I called the delivery help line and was informed that they tried to deliver the bed at 10:15 and no one was in, so they tried the phone and it was a dead number.

I asked the girl what number they called and she said they had 2 written down one ending 895 and the other ending 985. They called the 985 (A wrong number) and not the 895 (The correct number) then left…

I politely asked WHY THE FUCK did they not call the other number on the sheet next to the wrong number..? Her answer: I don’t know, they should do…

I spoke to her manager and she tried to charge me for another delivery in a weeks time.

Me: You can fuck off… Your delivery driver called when he was at my house not the 30 mins before, also he called the wrong number, that someone in your company wrote down wrong and he did not call the correct number written next to it on the SAME delivery sheet that YOU texted me on, and you want ME to pay for another delivery in a WEEKS time…

    NO…!!!

    Get me YOUR Manager..!

I explained the situation to this new Manager, whilst I chewed a brick.

They are paying for another delivery company to come to my house today and drop off the bed.

I am just waiting for a call AGAIN…!!!

Its now 15:00 and still no call...

I have had problems with delivery’s so many times.

Home deliveries just don’t seem to work.

How have you been let down..?

It takes a lot to beat "left behind tree stump at number 55". £80 worth of clothing left on a main/busy street behind a tree stump that is about two foot high next to a wall of the same height.

    Surprised it didn't get stolen!

My missus waited in for 2 days for a package that was supposed to be delivered by HDNL, no note was left although they claim they tried to deliver twice.

Just cancelled the order as it's not worth the hassle, hate HDNL, try to avoid them when possible.

That's like my "Have left parcel in bin" message we had, it was too. Lucky the bloody binmen weren't coming round that day!

Also came back to our house in middle of town to find a delivery from a catalogue (a new toaster) just sat on the step. So we phoned and said it never turned up. Which is fraud so don't do it.

I once kinda got trapped in the basement for a few hours after trying to carry a newly arrived sofa chair down the stairs while I was the only person home.

In my own opinion, a delivery nightmare thread is counterproductive. Instead I strongly advise specific threads for specific companies, such as the "parcelforce are a shower of cunts" (iirc) thread. That way, through the magical power of EG, when someone looks up the company on an internet you'll often find that the "such and such a company are useless fucking tossers, never use them" thread shows up in the first page of results.

I ordered a bed from argos. They delivered the frame but lost the mattress (how, I will never know). 2 months of sleeping on a blow up bed later argos finally replaced the missing mattress.

We got rid of the old bed, somewhat unwisely in retrospect, on the due delivery day so we had nothing to fucking sleep on that night.

To their credit, argos gave us some vouchers for our troubles....which we used to buy the shitting readybed.

"I recently bought a fridge freezer from Currys, and after I had paid for it they asked me for my address to arrange delivery. I told them that I lived between Gateshead and Hexham, and if they rang me a week next Tuesday between 8am and 7pm, I night be able to give them a six hour slot when I would be able to take delivery. When they rang me, I told them that my house was out of stock and they should ring back on Saturday. The shoe's on the other foot now, isn't it, Currys?"

This is where you went wrong.

Well on the other foot, we had a customer send in a huge ranting email about an order which Fedex tried to deliver (a next day service), but he was out all day (!) so, they left it with his neighbour on the Monday....who unfortunately went on holiday on Thursday, he still had not picked it up. Somehow this was our and Fedex's fault. If he had contacted us earlier, we would have quite happily sent him out a replacement.
