    @Wuntyphyve

    We were considering a potential dark souls run.

    Then I derailed the thread with my stupidity :)

    Then someone mentioned dark souls 2 and you arrived ;)

    I think i am ready to roll a D1 character at some point this week. Am i right in thinking that you have to keep within a level limit of those around you to get summoned?

    Yeah dunno what the level ranges are. Someone (quadfather) should have that info to hand.

    If you are level 30, the minimum you can summon is level 18 and the maximum is 44.

    Whether that's the 10% thing or not, I don't know, as my head hurts today.

    It's something like that.

    DS2 was the weird one for summoning. I had to use a summoning range calculator for DS2.

    Wasn't DS2 linked to soul memory or some such?

    Currently on NG+ in DS2, the sotfs additions have largely been pretty excellent. Quite enjoying this run. Currently power stancing the manslayer and blacksteel katana with Flynn's ring doing work.

    Yes it was linked soul memory. This was the only way me and a friend managed to keep our characters within summoning range

    Wow, Gaping Dragon is an awesome looking boss!

    Bought the Crest of Artorius, so could go back to the door but I'm off to Blighttown now. Know nothing about the place except everyone says its horrible. :)

    @HarryPalmer

    The frame rate is more horrible than anything else. :p

    Had a few days away from Dark Souls, but back on it now.

    Blighttown.

    What an absolute raging bell-end of an area. I'm enjoying it quite a lot.

    The opening section, literally just to the end of the first platform, took me several attempts and a lot of frustration. Barely visible toxic dart guy, horrible 'Descent'-like goblins, wobbly bridges, dark, stuttery framerate, generally inhospitable poison steeped hell-hole of an area. And yet with each attempt, you make progress, the fact that the dart guys don't respawn is such a good piece of design, simple, but allows you to progress steadily.

    Getting to the first bonfire felt like an achievement, but that was nothing compared to the intoxicating (pun intended) relief of reaching the second, literally moments before dying from toxicity. I was running around the swap like a crazy man, then spied the green glow and pegged it towards it.

    It actually looks pretty cool too, and the level design is a change.

    It will absolutely crucify you the first few times, but it is one of my favourite areas now. Go figure :)

    There's a lot of stuff in shitetown too - including some decent weapons, spells and armour, not to mention 2 entire secret areas...

    @Graxlar_v3

    Yeah man - Hollow tree and Ash lake. I know they lead to each other, but they're still classed as 2 areas. Well, I do anyway :)

    I think I fucked up.

    Been merrily exploring Blighttown. Killed Quelaag (smoking), decided not to go into Demons Ruins in favour of more exploring. Found my way into the Great Hollow, and now I am in Ash Lake - CURSED, with a fucking Hydra one-shotting me. No idea what to do, other than try and get healed in New Londo, which I guess means backtracking all the way back to Btown. NOT COOL.

    This is why I try to buy a purging stone as soon as possible. It's a hell of a backtrack to get there.

    Certainly do in Crystal Caves. Can't vouch for Ash Lake.

    Made it back to Firelink so everything is fine. NOT!

    Still cursed, firekeeper is dead, and there's a giant snake stinking up the place. Is the bonfire fucked then?

    Gonna buy a purging stone from the woman in the aqueduct, which I blatantly should have done anyway.

    All this talk brings back some amazing memories of the series, before DS2 went and ruined it all for me. I remember all the places you mention vividly. Excellent game.

    Is DS3 like DS or DS2? I got worn out with Bloodborne (never even finished it, hopefully yet), but I really blame DS2 for my fatigue.

    Heh, bonfire gone in firelink. Fun times ahead :)

    Have you spoken to the giant snake? At all? It's just that if you don't, there's an option later on to do something different.

    DS3 is more similar to Bloodborne (which I love). It's quite linear.

    3 plays beautifully in my opinion, and looks stunning - I really loved it, but it was my second 'souls' game after BB. I think I prefer it to 2, but I really enjoyed 2 as well.
