@spindle9988 I remember when I used to cry over that. Now it's just souls. I'm more angry at losing soft humanity. And I always have a couple.

Just beat the demon on the bridge after many goes. Walked across the next part and a dragon just destroyed me. Back to bonfire and fell off a stupid bridge

@ubergine you can skip past him with the master key. Go through the door on the lower floor of the tower is probably the quickest way to a blacksmith. It's a very dangerous way for an early character however.
Ah yes I know the route.

    Suggestion - head down, run!

Seriously though, as Andy says it's very treacherous and very easy to get lost if you don't know the way.

There is a tactic you can use against Taurus. It involves drop attacking him from the top of the tower (the one where you come in). You have to lure him back there.

The art direction and general feel actually reminds me of Resident Evil 4, which is a good thing.
Thats why I started with Demon's Souls in the first place. I wanted a game that was like resident evil only with swords, and you could state the games are quite similar in that respect.

So I started again, tiptoed around a bony dragon thing and scored a sword that one-shots most of these start in area guys. Was able to put points in the right place and use it straight away this time.

I forgot to try it on those asshole skeletons, went rushing off towards certain death with that bull demon again.

@ubergine astoras straight sword perhaps. If so it'll murder the skellies. It's divine. Literally.

That's it. I had to upgrade divinity to use it.

I also got the hammer off the Asylum Demon by spamming it with bombs at first meeting. Seems to be too heavy to use though, not sure why I bothered.

@Rajin; Yeah, that's an awful spot. My one time seeing one was in Tomb of the Giants, near the Silver Ring. They do choose their moments well!

I'm sure there was a time when Vagrants were more common (although still quite rare) than they are now. But I don't get many invasions in NG+, so I'm guessing the pool from which to fish drifts from is smaller, which is a crying shame, but not altogether unexpected.

Still, Dark Souls 2 should have a pretty hefty crowd to fish from, so here is hoping they keep things like the vagrants and expand on them. I'd certainly like to have a huge humanity monster chasing me around!

Yeah, Dark Souls made me sadomasochistic...

@andyc1980; Indeed, and the best thing in my opinion is having it gives you some leeway to head down to Pinwheel earlier. Most people leave this for after Anor Londo, but in fact if you got a good weapon and a little patience, heading down there earlier still nets you the Rite of Kindling, allowing you to kindle the bonfires up to 20 Estus Flasks.

You'll also find Patches on the way down too, fiddling with the lever to the second rotating bridge. Not that it's important or adds much to proceedings, but it's a nice little addition!

I'm about ready to hit NG++ now, where the only challenge is to get the third Sif soul, get to Anor Londo, and get the shield made. From there on, back to Undead Parish; where I'll end up handing over the second Gwyn's soul for the final miracle.

And then I'll consider myself ready for Dark Souls 2.

Heh just watching a video about Dark Souls and noticed something I'd never even heard before....

The armour you buy from Dornhall of Zena has a unique walking/running sound to it, all the little trinkets and baubles on there actually make a pleasant jingling sound as you move.

Okay then. The first encounter with Quelaag went well. Or so I thought it was going to. Then she dobe some kind of aoe attack that killed me. 40 minutes for Blighty this time. That's almost two hours quicker than last time.

@andyc1980; Nicely done. I must admit I didn't hang around either; went in through the back, straight to Quelaag, chopped her up, rang bell, cast Homeward. I did the exploration first time around; no point hanging about!

But that's primarily because now I'm in NG++, and literally the home straight in terms of reclaiming "The Dark Soul" having just hit Anor Londo. But between me and it stands a few Silver Knights, a few Painting Guardians, some gravity-defying balancing and a couple gargoyles.

    What could POSSIBLY go wrong...

@Kami haven't actually killed her yet. Left it till today but won't take long. Done all the exploring apart from the eagle shield I think. What is the quickest way back to the parish from hear once done.

Good luck with the balancing lol. Those shifting walkways in Blighty almost had me a couple of times last night.

@andyc1980; Quickest way back is up the elevator and ladders, and out the back of Blighttown into Valley of Drakes. If you bought/got the Master Key, you'll know this location; it connects with the elevator base of Firelink Shrine. It's not too tricky... just be careful of the big ugly giants with their toxic clubs.

Oh, and I have now reclaimed "The Dark Soul"; it was just as good as the last time on 360, and I feel great!

Now, do I go and play Lords of Shadow 2 knowing it's like going from a mad passionate fortnight with Selena Gomez to a dirty quickie with Anne Widdecombe...

@Kami yeah I've been to valley of the drakes before, but via darkroot basin I think. Two and a bit weeks left to complete ng ready for number 2 arriving. My first pre order in a while.

Congrats on the peeps who have earned the 'Dark Soul' trophy. It shows you have been down many avenues in the storyline, and have achieved greatness.

Now, Platinum Dark Souls II !!!!

@spindle9988 you don't have to make it all the way across the bridge. About halfway across on the right hand side is a set of stairs you can go down. In the room below is another set of stairs which lead to a ladder you need to kick down, which then becomes a shortcut from the undead burg bonfire.

So I'm playing Dark Souls and someone sends me a party/game invite, so I enter the party to tell him sorry, can't, playing Dark Souls, but then Dark Souls kicks me from the fucking game without saving, giving me some kind of bizarre you-can't-be-in-a-party bullshit message. Well fuck you Dark Souls, I went and played Minecraft after all.

@quadfather it's quite possible he may have done. He was wearing the full stone set though. I only went and lost 35k souls coming back over the branch from the crimson set. Ah well. Nearly made that much on my way back out including all the hard souls of knights/soldiers.
      Sen's next.
