    @andyc1980 go through as many fog doors as you can. The more you die the more you learn

    it's not the death that bothers me. I think it's more the lack of a clear objective like most games have now. Just got to keep going and i'll be fine. I hope.

    The objective of Dark Souls is pretty clear I think. You just have to open as many fog doors as you can until there aren't any left :)

    @andyc1980 This thread has contained previous discussions on the eighties-style nature of some aspects of the gameplay.

    It's a very positive thing, in my opinion.

    Just follow your nose and, if something genuinely seems too hard, you may be going the wrong way.

    Come here for spoiler-free advice.

    You will DIE, though :D

    You will be. The objectives are given by the NPCs, e.g. Ring two bells, get through sen's etc

    This.

    The game won't tell you shit, unless you start talking to people.

    Firelink shrine is where to start talking

    @quadfather How do you do the glitch? Thought all the glitches had been patched out

    @retro74

    I think you're right. It should have been patched out with the latest patch (the one that came with the DLC). You could probably make it work again by deleting the patch and DLC (on x360 at least).

    As for the glitch itself, you can check out this video.

    It is patched out now. As of 1.05 I think. Its just ive kept my bb chars. Just fired them all up - impossible to tell what stage of the game youre at as you have tons of stuff including boss souls so you can't tell which ng youre on. Well, you can guess by the amount of health you lose when you get hit but thats about it

    I just can't bring myself to delete them even though I dont use them anymore. Even got the level 4 mule char that I used to clone

    I think i am clinically addicted to this game. A psychologist would have a field day with me

    Ah they were all patched out before I started playing it then

    Don't mind, got more stuff than I know what to do with as it is!

    Yeah I dont use them anymore anyway. I just load them up now and again just to check. And to look forlornly at a balder side sword

    Sniff

    @quadfather just as well I'm on my way down there now then. Remember freeing a sorcerer from lower burg who said he was going there.

    Strangely enough I collected something like 8 BSS's today

    The two balder knights near the hidden bonfire in sen's is the best place to get them, always thought it was the parish before today

    Didnt manage have another go as had to go out. So made it to the top and got the key.

    Annoyingly though I got killed but that club swinging brute. I should have been able to take him out easily but I was already frustrated by that point so forgot my stamina management and got punished :-(

    Sounds like I'm nearly out then when I get back up there. Just got to stop doing stupid things like dying.

    Good thing is I have already looted the area and got myself some curse resistant armour for when I come bk to GH. :)

    I can almost feel the sun!

    Glad I went back to firelink. I obviously wasn't listening correctly last few timed I've been down. Plus was a couple of new faces there. Getting in better now. Much better. Gargoyles will fall tomorrow now I know how to summon solaire for help. Always been hollow when up there until tonight.

    @andyc1980

    Yeah I struggled with gargoyles until I realised I could summon solaire. Makes that fight so much easier! Good luck!

    @andyc1980 That's the first bit I got stuck on, many months ago, due to not being able to find any Humanity in order to summon him.

    Got frustrated (unlike me as a rule) and put the game to one side for most of the year.

    When I returned, it didn't take that long in the end to get over the "hump".

    And that's really what this game is all about: escalation of difficulty, in steps, and learning.

    Good luck. Pine resin will help, if you found it...

    My quality build even though I only started yesterday has just finished anor londo. I think this was the first time i've done a playthrough playing offline in human form. Its just too easy. I went through the back-end of blightown, and got to the bottom, killed mildred, killed queelag, and I had to sit there for a minute while in the Demons ruins thinking....."wait, how did I complete Blightown in like 10 seconds?"

    Ah well.

    Can anyone tell me how to get fire tempest?

    @robc84 - you're nearly there mate!

    You'll look back on this later and laugh as you'll find it easier each time. And for some reason you always spend multiple runs in shitetown.

    Saying that, I fall off that waterwheel almost 80% of the time first time trying to roll onto the higher platform. Does my head in :)

    Did catacombs last night. First time. Properly too. (As in leeroy, vamos etc)

    Got the dual shotels up to +5 and +4 fire respectively. Just need to grab some green and then get chaos door dah to get them to +5 chaos

    @EMarkM so i was a lot closer than I thought. I thought there were three. One hit would have done it.

    I know. Because I had already died to about 5 stupid deaths before the time I finally got to the top I was really frustrated. I just wanted to kill that thing and move on. But as we know with DkS, to rush is to die. I tried to get too many hits in, didn't lower my shield between his attacks etc. I've killed them things so many times now I shouldn't have died.

    On the plus side, all of the toxic snipers are dead and I have another firekeepers soul :). It's just whether I can bothered to track back to chesty's sister or just wait til I get back to firelink

    @robc84 what are those firekeeper souls used for. I know they increase effect of estus flasks but I thought it must have a greater use than that.

    @andyc1980

    As far as I know it is just for that. Although as your vitality increases, and enemies start to hit harder I would imagine having upgraded estus flasks is pretty useful.

    Mine are only at +1 right now. Soon to be +2 :)

    Did you pick up the one in Blighttown or the one in New Londo Ruins?
