Well, the uchi has a whopping extra 2 base damage over the iaito

Both scale at A once you upgrade them to +14

Not sure on movesets. Possibly the same.

Uchi needs 14 str and 14 dex, whereas the Iaito needs 14 str and 20 dex

Uchi does 225 damage at +15, Iaito does 220.

I really need to get out more.

I might just be down to which moveset you prefer, if they're different.

SPARE BSS? you have a SPARE? Christ, it makes me mad

Only really need divine for one section of the game, but it really helps

It's not just me. Ask around. Dr. Mech can't get balder shields, some other poor fucker can't get the channeler's trident etc etc.

Same with titanite catch pole as well.

I think I know the one already. Bout 5 of them near a large-ish room with a ladder nearby?

Maybe. I kicked a ladder down (there's a ghost above it), went down some steps and the room is on the right. The ghosts come out of vases and shit.

    @-Eks

The stairs leading down to that whole building is (I find) the safest place to deal with them.

If you're struggling I'd advise to run through the entrance of the building and U-turn and run back to the top of the stairs. Likely you'll have pulled 3-4 of them rather than all at once. Beat them up at the top of the stairs, rinse and repeat.

It takes some practice to be sure. Also, rather than your Estus equipped as your item, put the Transient Curse there so you can see when it runs out to save you attacking when not buffed. Remove all quick items other than Estus and Transient Curse so you can quick swap as required.

It's a nasty spot but not impossible if done slowly enough.

Ah, Ok. That went better than before, still died because I wasn't keeping an eye on the curse but I shall try again. Cheers dude.

Yeah, you've got to have the curse on the active slot. And keep a close eye on it.

Trying to take them all on at once is very hard. I find it's easier to tempt 2-3 out at a time, even it means backtracking a fair bit

They're cunts, but you'll get into the swing of it

And make sure you have plenty of poise going in! I tried it with 0 on my second playthrough and just couldn't complete a single swing. Major bumming.

Oh I have poise, I've always got poise with the Wolf Ring.

Also...AT FUCKING LAST! Ahem...lure them out, lightning spear to the face (even better when they are lined up) and it's done. Don't know why I didn't do that before, feel like a jackass now. Haha!

Now to open the floodgates which can only lead to good things right? right?

After the ghost room the rest is a doddle. Keep those transient curses handy though...

    Nice one.

Oh yeah, opening the floodgates only results in really great news.

    Really great...

It won't do anything like, say, drain some water and subject you to a massive collection of fuckers ready to rip your head off, no sirree

Got a little bored of farming up my Endurance so I could, 25% a decent build with the Uchi. So swapped to a mostly stone set and went exploring. Somehow survived being mugged by the great felines. Thought I'd investigate the mushroom men.

Small ones seemed pretty week so I decided to have a go at a big one. Oops, a couple of hits and I'm toast.

Going to have to go back and find my corpse with 25k souls.

Guessing there must be something valuable guarded by them.

Really enjoying the Uchi for one on one fights but when out numbered the broad slashes of the BSS are very nice.

Also wouldn't mind some advice on the shield front...  Got a hollow shield I mostly use, also the crest shield, some knight's shield, eagle shield, spider shield and a Balder Side Shield.

@DodgyPast - adult mushrooms really pack a punch

They are guarding a unique item yes

They also occasionally drop pine resin as well.

Any shield that blocks 100% is vital. After that its the stability stat. A lot of medium ones are around the 55-60 mark which is good but some of the larger ones can do around 90 which can really take a battering. Trade off is that they're heavy, slow and you can't parry.

One overlooked one is the steel round shield. Its a pretty good compromise

For tank characters, go for large shields, ideally (imo) Greatshield of Artorias. You can't parry, but it blocks just about anything.

It's not so great against lightning though.

    I <3 Artorias Greatshield.

You can block anything with it, even Sifs double swing feels like a 2 wasps flew into a piece of solid steel.

    @DodgyPast

Don't be fooled by their small arms, the big mushrooms reach is suprisingly long as they sort of lunge forward with each punch.

Also a heavy attack by them can one-hit-kill most people.

They seem slow enough that reclaiming my souls shouldn't be a problem. As the felines are down I'll swap to a 25% build after crossing the bridge and try 2 handing the Uchi after spamming some fire orbs. I'd guess applying some fire resin to my sword wouldn't hurt either.

I think I've got myself terribly out of sequence since I haven't finished with Blighttown yet.
