Beat tomb of giants boss first time JUST. I recommend a devine weapon! I didn't have one but it would make the fight far easier!
  • Deleted user 15 June 2013 22:12:23
Just check my inventory...I had a devine weapon :) oops.

Abandoned progressing in favour of wearing forest hunter ring. Great fun! Just keep getting randomly summoned to invade.

@Dr_Mech Thanks for that! Where does the Pygmy fit in though?
The Pygmy supposedly vanished, you hear nothing about him in the vanilla game other than you are his descendant, which Kaathe means that you are going to become the next Dark Lord and usher in the age of Dark. This isn't a lie but a half-truth, all humans are descendants of the Furtive Pygmy. You are not special, infact the only thing special about you is the fact you're just so tenacious that you never give up, you never go Hollow no matter how many times you die because you have sheer determination of will to keep going.

However there is some speculation that The Pygmy is Manus, father of the Abyss from the DLC, since he is refered to as Primeval Man.

The Dark Soul is the opposite of the Lord Souls, while their power fades as the first flame dies out, the Dark Soul grows stronger, meaning that whoever posseses the most fragments of the Dark Soul (Humanity) shall be the most powerful.

Anor Londo! Shit there are big guys here...
  • Deleted user 16 June 2013 07:00:22
@BillCityfingers good luck, only area of the game I found pretty hard. there are a couple of exceedingly frustrating bits, especially before you find the next bonfire.

@Armoured_Bear where are you in the world?

    @Choppi

After killing the butterfly boss I went back to get the Drake Sword as you suggested and then did loads of farming in the DarkRoot Garden section behind the door that you need 20K Souls to open.

You dirty farmer you. I've only farmed on the dragon bridge at the beginning when I was struggling. :)

@Choppi cheers. Seems pretty tough already. These big guys take a bit of beating.

Then I got eaten by a mimic. Twice ha ha

I farmed a few times. Thought it really helped. We're not all total ninjas choppi :-P

I always hit every chest, like the weird noise they make whilst fighting.

Wish you could trade items with phantoms as I have some amazing items I will never use.

For some reason I cant put down my summon sign.
  • Deleted user 16 June 2013 09:44:32
@BillCityfingers what rank are you? I'm about 72, if your near that I can help you clear that area.

You can trade items with phantoms (either friendly or invading ones). Just drop an item from your inventory.

You can only use your summon sign in certain areas. Have you beaten the boss of that area? Yes - then you can lay a summon sign in Hollow form, if No then you need to be in Human form. You can't summon in areas such as Great Hollow, Undead Asylum and a couple of others (near Andre for example).

Oh cool, will donate loads of cool weapons next time. I have some serious gear that isn't usable for me.
  • Deleted user 16 June 2013 10:02:41
Do I visit new Londo ruins as part of main quest at any point? I really want the ember from there...
  • Deleted user 16 June 2013 10:05:25
@BillCityfingers yes one of the main bosses is there. Pretty hard area until you have a good character. You can do what I did and just get the ember but it still isn't straight forward as you can't get it until the water level is lowered.
  • Deleted user 16 June 2013 10:39:05
Hmm. What to do... I could probably wait. I'm not exactly weak just now.
  • Deleted user 16 June 2013 10:46:56
It only levels up your weapon from 14 to 15. Just wait.
What type of character are you? If you're fast dex character like me then the boss there is very easy. I can imagine if you're a slow character you would stuggle.

Duke archives boss beaten 1st attempt. \o/.
This game certainly gets easier as you go, bit like witcher 2.

It's actually +10 to +14, so rather more worth it than you give it credit for (albeit still not essential to go out of your way for).

You need to have beaten another boss earlier in the game in order to challenge the boss of New Londo Ruins btw. Did you beat Sif yet?

I really need to return to this and start the DLC, i'm terrified it'll kick my arse all over the place now as i'll surely be a bit rusty!
  • Deleted user 16 June 2013 11:05:12
@Ironlungs76 not yet. Nearly went to him then went back. I'll prob wait til after anor Londo now.

I'm high dex and fast. 40 dex and levelling up my endurance now.
  • Deleted user 16 June 2013 11:06:43
@Ironlungs76 no it isnt, i was +13 when I picked it up.
First ember allows +9 then upto +14 then the final one is +15.
If that is wrong the game broke for me.
  • Deleted user 16 June 2013 11:10:55
You're on about the Very Large Ember from New Londo Ruins, right? Unless you got gifted a +13 weapon there's no way to raise it that high without that ember unless cheating/glitching afaik.

The Titanite Slab you get for killing the Stray Demon is how you get from +14 to +15.
  • Deleted user 16 June 2013 11:39:29
Must of crashed on my game.

I got to +5 then used the ember. Got to +9 and used the large ember. Got to +14 and needed the very large ember and a slab to goto +15.
