@quadfather Ha ha, not so sure. I see it every time I close my eyes. The horror... The horror...

Hmm I stupidly checked dark.souls wiki to see how many areas there are as wanted a rough idea of how far in a am.

Put me off a bit, there is LOADS left.
It also says as a guide what kind of level you normally are at each section. I've clearly missed several areas! I seem to have jumped ahead of myself.

Yup, and there's secret areas too that are hard to find, just to rub salt in the wound :)

I don't care about missing bits as long as it doesn't have some silly item you really need like fire resistance ring and 15 hours away you fight a fire boss that is nearly impossible without it. That kind of thing, I'm about to fight the big boss in the sunny cathedral level. Then going back to the ruins just to get very large ember as my +10 sword isn't quite good enough.

Twenty hours in, level 53. Starting to think, can I be bothered continuing.

    Daft Question :

My Gargoyle's Halberd is at +5, how do I get it to +10 then add lightning?

You need Embers. The first (to take it to +10) is in the Depths. The second (to convert it to lightning) I'll leave it to you to find.
You also need bigger and specialist bits of titanite once you have the embers to do the actual upgrading, but merchants can sort you out with these.
Ta, I guess +5 is the best I can get for a while then.

    Thanks.

Where are you now? Still before Capra?
I just killed the Butterfly then spent 20,000 souls on opening the door at the Butterfly Garden.
Was hoping to do some farming there and upgrade a bit.
    I'm Level 35 but a pussy.

Heard of curse resistant armour LB?

Use either the dingy set dropped by the firekeeper at firelink bonfire or the crimson set (if you have access to blight town)
  • Deleted user 12 June 2013 15:32:02
@Choppi I honestly cannot believe how far you've got in twenty hours! I'm at twenty two, level 37 and only just started blighttown. I would carry on as you are obviously doing pretty damn well.

@Armoured_Bear Have you been through that door yet? Is it worth going in?

I went through and got mullered in no time.
Apparently you can farm thousands of souls in minutes...

there's 2 ways to farm souls there. The first one is non-spoilery - either be patient and take the denizens on one at a time and/or level up loads so you've got the edge

It is hard the first time you're there, because you've got to learn how to fight them (much harder than standard mobs), and be careful that you don't pull too many at once.

and the spoilery method is as soon as you go down the steps, stop and turn left as if you were going towards the cliff edge. To the left of the stairs, there's a little bit of ground you can walk along. Make a note of this and then go and aggro one of the denizens. Lead them back to this point and instead of following you along the path, their AI will take them up the stairs instead. When they get near you, they'll fall off the stairs, and hit your head slightly before falling to their doom. You can do this with every single mob in there. Then go back to the bonfire and repeat.

I'm going to be spoilery farming later :-)

Once you get a routine, you'll be shitting souls, trust me.

Also, forgot to mention, if you do use that second method, when you go along the path, make sure you go all the way to the end and face the stair wall. Makes it easier for them to bounce off your head, as sometimes, depending on where you are standing, they can land right next to you. But if that happens, just stay calm and raise your shield and let them pummel you - it knocks them back slightly each time, and it will allow you to have a little cackle to yourself as you watch them fuck it up and fall off :-D
