Ladies and gentlemen, say hello to Shadow of the DAMNED (their capitalization). It's coming out at some unspecified time from EA, and it's being made for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Here's what we know about it so far: it stars a "demon killer" who rides a motorcycle; he's fighting denizens of the underworld; and the media printed in Famitsu depicts a Resident Evil 4-style perspective as the hero fires away at enemies. Also, it's due out summer 2011.

Should we be excited? I was hoping for a real horror game but seems it'll be more actiony.

Real survival horror is dead. But this is still exciting.

a demon killer who rides a motorcycle? Japanese games are so stupid these days. :)

Shame, like Kenshin001, I was hoping for a decent horror game, guess it's down to Dead Space 2 next year.

It looks bloody awful. Was that an absinthe vending machine in the trailer? It literally looks like they put a few massively successful games from the past couple of years in a food mixer and then shit out a product.

Technically, Killer 8 is already included in Killer 7.

It was always going to look more like a typical blockbuster game due to the involvement of EA. A game like this will bankroll several other weirder Grasshopper titles down the line.

I'm still excited for the game, typical crap EA trailer music aside, an original nighttime RE4 type game with some touches of the crazy Suda shit going on is one to watch.

It's been out for months: Move compatible uncensored PS3 version is out in the US/EU early next year, 360 version is also planned for a Western release.

Are they going to clean up the port though? From what I've heard, they've managed the distinctly impressive feat of making No More Heroes run worse on the HD consoles than it does on the Wii.
  • Deleted user 15 September 2010 13:25:33
If they're bringing move support, would hope they (Feelplus I think) will revisit other areas of the port as well.

    Well that was a letdown. : (

Is it just me or is that dude crosseyed?

Thanks! Thought this looked interesting on Wii so am glad it's coming to PS3. Will wait to see if the uncensored version has any improvements first though, as the above post suggests it was a poor conversion.

Why are they never "Shadow of the Holy"? or "Angel May Serve Tea" or "Dante's Trip to Marks and Sparks"?

There's an interview with Goichi Suda on the Edge website.

I didn't know this was another Unreal Engine game, Japan is going Unreal Engine mad. That's three Japanese Unreal Engine games revealed recently when previously The Last Remnant was the only one I'd heard of.

Leaves me worried about tearing and frame rate problems for the PS3 version at least. Epic never got the PS3 build to the point where it had it's own built in anti-aliasing solution did they? That's why developers often threw in the vaseline blur or left out anti-aliasing entirely.

It sounds like the game started off more like the sort of title people feel is missing this generation but it mutated from psychological thriller to full on action boom fest during development.

@Cappy I tried to look on the positive side when I first saw this game but damn that is a shame, the concept art for the game shown in EDGE looked really cool.

It is sad the way things are going in gaming these days that high budgets are stamping out originality.

I hoped for another Shadow Man (Brilliant game, and OST!), and, it looks as if I just may, almost have got my wish. This reminds me of that, in some ways, after seeing the footage included with the Gametrailers interview excerpt.

Shinji Mikami announced recently a June 7th worldwide release for this. Didn't actually bother to explain any more about the game itself, mind.

"[Shadows of the Damned] is our vision of hell, taking gamers on a journey through a demented underworld," said Mikami as he stylishly sipped whiskey on stage. What a dude.

    What a dude.

I have an image of him and a monocle in the back of my head.
