anyone got this on the GBA? i got it the other day. Its a fake though, hence the 'Pirate...games' thread. Ive got a farm and that, but without a manual or anything i'm struggling to find a point. Other than to raise a great farm to 'avenge' the passing of the old farmer bloke. |
thats either a beautiful concept or i'm missing the point...

Well you could say that there's no point to Animal Crossing either - have a pretty house and collect stuff and make a few friends and plant some trees! And yet I'm so, so addicted...
Haven't played Harvest Moon though so I really can't help you out there
I was thinking of getting it so I could link up to Harvest Moon 2 on the GameCube, but I guess you havent tried that. Has anyone else tried the link-up? What does it do?
Point? Hmf. A point to a video-game? Please..
There's loads to do though, and not only in upgrading the farm, but in the mines and town. Just wait until you get the kitchen and can start cooking. Yay. Hehe. Horse-races are great fun aswell.

Watch the telly, you get a lot of hints and tips that way.
Have a look at GameFAQs for a walkthough. One or two helped me with the GC version as the manual for that was pretty sparse.

edit: Ok, that's not much help at all.

At least there was some info Asphyxiant, and you seem to get rewarded for extended play with the link-up. I guess that is where you get the items that are listed as "???????" in your tool shed.
i bought some cookie dough so i could give some cookies to karen because shes hot.
but i havent got a cooker and she doesnt like chocolates...

it doesnt matter, the librarian seems quite nice too!
( ^v^ )
Have you tried flowers Tom?
no, do you pick them or do you grow them on the farm? and am i supposed to feed the horse? i couldnt find horse food anywhere. I only just figured to push him outside.... doh
I have only played Harvest Moon 2, but there you pick the flowers. Hope to get Mineral Town soon though.
you can pick flowers at the cave and i think you can buy seeds and ship them. i need a bigger rucksack though. it can only hold 3 things at the moment which is a pain in the arse when you are trying to build up some revenue for a chicken by mining for silver. Do tools break too? because i found percentages on a screen that could mean that...
Those percentages are basically EXP. Every time it reaches 100% you can upgrade it - first with copper, then silver, gold and mystille. Once all the tools are upgraded, including the fishing rod, you can dig up Cursed Tools in the Lake Mine, which can then be turned into Blessed Tools. There's a final, ultimate set after that, too...
who would have thought a simple concept could be so deep! can you get married? all the fable tards going on like its something new...
i gave karen some flowers, she said they were a wonderful gift and her heart started beating faster.
also bought my first chicken.
won a bunch of medals in a horse race and traded some for a necklace to give to karen..
then threw it on the floor by accident.
is there somewhere that you can store items on the farm? only having three slots is getting irritating.
Edited by tomrowley101 at 08:38:20 13-10-2004
You can buy bigger rucksacks at the store, though it's better to buy a basket first as you can take it out and collect grasses with it. You can only get storage (shelves and fridge) after expanding your house. Then make sure to watch the left TV channel every Saturday and order the items via the phone in the bar.
what are the grasses for? can you ship them? and whats the point in planting 3 squares of seeds? you can never get to the middle one! thats just a waste of seeds

Go find the Harvest Sprites (they live behind the church). Give them gifts and make them like you (MAKE them! FORCE them!). They like grass that's the same colour as them, and they *all* like flour, for some reason.
Once you've done that, you can set them to work watering, harvesting, and animal-tending.
Also, the upgraded watering cans have a longer range than just the one tile in front of you. They can do big areas at once.

@_@ HM is sooooo addicting. ok so you wanna know wat you should do? ok:
1: get married
2: raise crops
3: raise animals
5: play addicting mini games @_@
6: Have a kid
7: Upgrade the house
8: do wat the title says, make freinds
9: meet the goals (aka: find all 9 jewels)
10; make money
11: hahahahahaha funny little harvest spirits XD
I personally LUV this game. i play t when i go on long trips (like 3-4 hours)
Once you get into it its really fun.
I resent having to befriend harvest sprites to help me, and I find them annoying. They get on my nerves so I intend to do without them. I should be able to construct mechs, gigantic mechs to do my farming for me. Maybe I'm missing the point. I really hate those little pixies.
You'll have a tough time without the sprites. They water all your crops, milk your cows, collect your chickens' eggs and all manner of tedious work that you won't have time for.
Give them flour (which you buy at the shop) or the grass you find growing all over the town and they'll soon be your bitches.
I can't work with people I don't respect. And I don't respect people who end every sentence with the word "budum". Every time they say it, I feel like slapping their impish faces and saying "tish!". A real man does the work himself
You don't work with them, you enslave the little shits. You can try doing all the work yourself but don't complain to me when your little guy collapses through exhaustion after watering about two rows of carrots!
I know you're right. I just don't take the game seriously. I use it to pass the time but don't really have ambitions. I don't mind picking the crops actually. When harvest day comes round every couple of days or so, I spend the entire day picking crops, it's quite therapeutic.
When I figured it would be impossible to progress far without the sprites, I decided I wasn't going to play the game in earnest, so I stopped taking it seriously
Ever axed one of your chickens? Yeah, I have.

give karen bottles of wine, she's got a bit of a drink problem and loves the sauce.
