Not quite sub £100, but CPW are selling the Lumia 610 for £140. Think that's on Vodafone though. Do Vodafones still come unlocked out of the box? Also, Nokia are running another headset giveaway. Lumia 610 and 710 will get you the in ear version, while the 800 and 900 will get you the full headphone version of the purity headset

The Lumia 610 and 710 can be found for £99 on PAYG if you look around (Carphone Warehouse would be your first stop). The 610 has some limitations though due to the low RAM (256Mb vs 512Mb on other WP).

610's are complete shit to the point that certain apps are barred from it because of performance issues.

    Windows Phone 8

This fall, NFC, SD card support, DirectX, multicore, Voip, New Start Screen, IE10, Over the air updates

Windows 7.5 users will get 7.8, not WP8 but they mentioned some WP8features like the start screen but didn't elaborate much on other stuff from WP8. Hopefully most of the software stuff and obviously not hardware related.

Bit too vague for my liking and I can see the App marketplace dying on it's arse for 7.5/7.8.

My contract is currently up, but I'm waiting to see what the new iphone is like. It'll be a toss up between that, the Galaxy S3, and a WP8 device of some kind, probably a Nokia if they're anything like the 900.

Looking for a new gaming podcast to listen to? LOOK NO FURTHER!

New start screen promo. You can now change the size of the tiles.

While the app marketplace for 7.5 and 7.8 will probably die on it's arse.

Users of Win phone 8 will have access to the RT marketplace I assume as they now share native code. Wouldn't that mean that the potential marketplace will be huge?

Assuming win 8 RT takes off..which it should.

    Come and get it cumslingers!

This does kind of smack of Win phone 7 being a beta.

    Bit like the xbox :)

can be said for most tech; technology matures.
what I wanna know is if WP8 shares the same code as RT, does that mean WP apps should be available (barring a few updates by devs) be available for surface?

because launching with potentially almost 100,000 apps for surface would be pretty damn good (I'm excluding surface pro from this).

HTC's first Windows Phone 8 smart phones are out the bag, just one day after Microsoft showed off the latest version of its mobile software.

Revealed by the Verge, which cites a 'knowledgeable source', they are the HTC Zenith, Accord and Rio.

The HTC Zenith will be the top of the range mobile, apparently. Expect it to arrive with a 4.7-inch 720p display, HSPA+ connectivity and an 8-megapixel camera. The Zenith is said to be powered by a quad-core Qualcomm processor.

That would put some serious processing grunt behind Microsoft's operating system, which features a refreshed Start screen, as well as a slew of new features.

The HTC Accord is reckoned to be the mid-range option, and will play host to a 4.3-inch display that happily also boasts a 720p resolution. A dual-core chip, HSPA+, 8-megapixel camera and NFC are also on board.

Finally, at the cheaper end of the scale you'll get the Rio, which has a 4-inch 480x800-pixel screen and a 5-megapixel camera.

All three phones are expected to hit shops this year, with Zenith arriving at some point in the last three months of the year, and the Accord and Rio making a debut in October. An autumn date means the Accord and Rio could be launched at the same time as Windows 8 itself.

Rio is rather ironic considering HTC just pulled out of Brazil.

Lots of doom and gloom but looks like they can't compete with companies that manufacture in Brazil due to tariffs.

It's not brilliant, but as something to play for five minutes while you're waiting in a queue it's not too bad.

Really looking forward to Mush though. It's won a bafta and everything.

I really like the general look of the WP OS, but as someone that has well over 100 apps on my iPhone, I couldn't imagine scrolling through 100 tiles every time I wanted to use an app.

If you use your phone for calls, texts and the odd bit of Twitter and browsing, then I can see it being a really slick, clean experience.

    Hated, adored, never ignored.

You pin your most used I suppose and the new start screen will allow more on screen with different sizes. They could introduce grouping like the iPhone does with one icon/tile. I imagine they will introduce something like that as there is a problem for app heavy users. More consumer features will be unveiled nearer release. Not like you would find those 100 apps on WP right now anyway :D

I just missed out on those headphones by a day. Started in June, I bought on the last day of May :(

There was another promotion for Lumia 800/900 phones bought in May so you should be eligible for a headset (unless you bought a 610/710). I got my 900 on May 18th.

Got my Nokia App Voucher today, it's one of those Master Card Prepaid cards.

Funny thing, nothing really peaks my interest in the app marketplace, even the games, but that's just me, never got much joy out of mobile gaming.

Having looked at the site nokiaappcard.com, the faq and terms it seems I can actually use this card anywhere I like, not just the Windows Phone App marketplace which is great. There is probably no way for them to force you to use it there, I suspect people would just presume so with the branding. Thanks for the free money then Nokia and MS :D

Shiny update for the Lumia 800 on Three. Now comes with added internet sharing. \o/ Lumia 800 + The One Plan = unlimited data and tethering. \o/

Except not for me, because I'm not on it. The One Plan would have cost me £2 a month extra way back on launch day, with the only advantage being tethering, (I do get unlimited data) but there was no point as the Lumia didn't support it. And it seems that although you can upgrade your tariff at any point, you can't move onto The One Plan. Bums.

    There isn't one.

    Only 7.8

Same start screen is all I've read so far.

I'm not expecting much as the hardware doesn't support most of the new WP8 features so they couldn't even if they wanted to.

If they port IE10 and the rebranded Zune to Xbox Music, along with the start screen, I'll be satisfied. I'm glad I didn't commit to a long contract. Bought one as stop gap device.

Annoying considering the drastic core changes. WP7 was a beta for sure, a cracking beta though. Love how smooth and clean it is.

Oh well, roll on WP8 and cheap WP7 phones :D
