Very slick port. Game runs really nice, easily hitting 60fps. Seems good so far to me.

Granted I didn't bother with DMC 4 but this seems very much like a smart reboot. It is definitely a DMC game to my eyes only with a less shit looking main character. Although this guy is a bit generic. Story seems real dumb in a good way.

Agree with Mike, this is beautiful on PC. Apparently I'm getting 180fps, which is way beyond pointless.

If only all PC ports were done this well.

It's impressive, but it's dull. Same guy did loads of DMC4 vids and they were mostly aerial combos too.

    His GOW3 one is amazing.

This has been mostly under my radar, but if there's a good deal on Steam and the ports are good, I might pick up the collection. I love games like this, but have a habit of never finishing them.

In Bayonetta, I think I reached the last boss, but my Xbox died before I beat it.

The world is going mad. Me? I'm doing fine.

Finally got around to playing it for myself last night, and I have to say it's a lot of fun. Played the first three missions and I really like the combat system. It's satisfying and seems to have a decent amount of depth. Decided to play on the hardest initial difficulty since it claims to be the proper experience, and I haven't had any trouble despite usually sucking at this type of game. Then again, there's not really been that much combat so far.

Have to say I rather like the story and characters so far. Dante is a lot more low key and understated than he was portrayed in the demo. I wonder if the reception would have been quite so negative had the demo just been the first level instead. Seems to me like that would have shown off the game a lot better than that stupid boss fight (and the hilariously bad accompanying dialogue). It doesn't seem like that was a fair represenatation of the game from what I've played.

It looks amazing too. I'm playing the apparently-inferior PS3 version, but I can't say I've noticed any technical issues outside of a few framerate frops during cutscenes. Can only imagine how good the PC version must look and play.

I'm loving this (PC version) everything about it has kicked ass so far, the tight combat, awesome soundtrack(just got it off iTunes) and decent story. All topped off with 1080p at 60fps.

I have no idea why this is getting so much Internet hate. I can only assume its a vocal minority of tossers. I'd put it on par with the third game.

    For the emperor!

The comments section in that article made my mind hurt. Just a game...a good one, but still don't worry about it.

Least anupambag seems to be enjoying it.

Just finish my first play through so thought I'd add my opinion.

Firstly I actually finish the damb thing, something that didn't happen with dmc4 because I just got board with fighting all the bosses again! Dmc4 just had the worst final level.

Back on DmC I echo many peoples opinion that it's far closer in play style to the other games then expected which was great to find. What it brings that new and fresh is the level design which the keep mixing up and keep fresh from start to finish and there are some good examples of timing based sequences that show you don't need to use QTEs to have dynamic sequences.

Strongly recommend to any DMC fans who have been holding off on this.

The level design is indeed really impressive at times.

Also they've managed to create genuinely exciting set-pieces out of actual gameplay and without any QTEs. The Angel/Devil grapples essentially well disguised QTEs the way they're implemented in some of the platforming moments, but NT have actually made them feel fun.

DMC game or not, this is really, really good, and surely will deserve to be in GotY discussion. A lot of the backlash seems to ignore the fact it's a stunningly good game in it's own right. And that's entirely unfair.

Souls and vanquish are absolutely the same genre. Intricate combat systems with varying levels of depth and width to deal with many enemy arrangements and their own combat systems. And they are more accomplished than dmc.
DeS and DaS are slow-paced RPGs which focus on teaching patience and stamina management, and Vanquish was a fast-paced third-person cover shooter which happened to have a melee button. You may as well have listed Gears alongside it for all that means. Neither are a fair comparison at all.

Personally I think Dark Souls has the best all round combat design I've ever experienced, I prefer the purity of it to anything else. But they are not of the same genre. And with regards to Vanquish, well then you might as well have mentioned any game with a melee button as part of it's control scheme. I loved that game too, but intricate?!

I think the platforming's a little tedious tbh. It's step up from Enslaved and so much better than Heavenly Sword's qtes. It's still very close to playing itself.
