OK, seems the EU confirmation has disappeared...

However, you can have a new trailer as a replacement :p

Panda sex, chicks vs raptors and cats wearing helmets.

It is everything I have been waiting for in a game.

This came out today, available on the PSN store and Bluray so I was able to download it. 1.7GB.

It's fun! The game controls smoothly and surviving as each animal feels a bit like a more complex Feeding Frenzy as a carnivore (starting with a Pomeranian!) and Metal Gear Gazelle as a herbivore. You start off with two animals (said Pomeranian and a Japanese Deer) and unlock more by completing missions in Survival mode. There are a few DLC animals, too, including some rather anachronistic ones.

Overall, it feels like the kind of game Sony used to make. The main mode is Survival mode, which is exactly what it sounds like. You get points and compete on a global leaderboard. The music is really good! It runs at 60fps (most of the time). There's a Story mode, which you unlock one act at a time by collecting archives on memory cards left through the world.

I gather this is coming out in Europe, so I recommend people at least take a look. It sounds bizarre, but there is actually a solid game behind it, one with the dual tension of hiding from stuff that's bigger than you and meeting timed goals, while making sure your animal breeds so you can continue playing.

    7/10 from Game Informer

    "repetitive and boring"

The main negs: Mechanics aren't explained. Corridor gameplay. Shallow design. No variety. Poor graphics.

Pros: Darker than it seems. A weird appeal despite its mechanical problems. You can eat a golden retriever. Is better in coop.

    http://www.gameinformer.com/games/tokyo_jungle/b/ps3/archive/2012/09/13/surviving-a-repetitive-wasteland.aspx

To be honest, and I hate to be one of the "reads like a..." crowd, but the negativity in the review really is at odds with the final score.

More reviews needed, but it's a demo first now for me.

Yeah I'm sure it's easy to find negative reviews of most games but who bases their purchases on the opinions of Game Informer? I've never even heard of them.

I don't think anybody excited for this is expecting it to be a critical darling. I mean just look at it, it screams of shonky. I'm picking it up purely because it's something different and it looks like it has a sense of humour. Poor graphics and unexplained mechanics are kind of expected.

When did eating a golden retriever become a pro in anyone's eyes?

Ellie certainly makes it sound fun. Anyone picking it up tomorrow? And by picking it up I mean downloading.
