Films that could benefit with a Star Warsesque CGI makeover (only not shit like Lucas, that wanker)

    hello

I am watching Terminator 2 and the early CGI, whilst impressive from a technical viewpoint, is a bit shit, really, nowadays. As opposed to something like Jurassic Park which, for some reason has NOT FUCKING AGED AT ALL (with the possible exception of camera motion, it's virtually static during scenes with CG in. Also used sparingly, but still, it's good). We can do better in real-time by now, so I reckon they should redo it. Yeah. Redo that bitch. It makes sense.

(ps T2 is also overrated, it's not really all that good and Ed Furlong is just fucking annoying, but hey ho).

Also they should redo The Rocketeer.

The Last Starfighter could do with a spruce.

The apes in 2001 could do with a tuck here and there.

Aliens. Don't get me wrong, it's great but someone needs to airbrush Hicks and Vasquez out of it. They completely ruin the movie.

I'd love a good CGI Thunderbirds film. Or if it's just replacing the effects in an existing film, I wouldn't mind seeing some of the stuff in Evil Dead tweaked. Not all of it though, might take away the charm.

I'd kick the living daylights out of the producers of Tipping Point - Ghandi

Isn't Hicks kinda crucial to Ripley's character development though?

Though 'character development' in Aliens is kinda moot anyway, it all happened in Alien.

    Flash Gordon.

But that's part of it's appeal I guess.

The Resident Evil films. I'm one of the reasons they keep making them.

Neither does anything aside from act like a dick, they're not integral to the plot in any way.

The Indiana Jones' movies are really starting to show their age.

Independence Day, even if it's only the scene of the dog jumping out of the way of the explosion. That looked terrible then, it looks worse now.

Unrelated to the special effects, but I was really impressed by the cleanup job they did when they released Indy on DVD. It genuinely did look like a brand new film (hokey greenscreen aside).

Are you sure you mean Hicks and not Hudson btw? Michael Biehn's character was relatively integral (though arguably could still be trimmed, with some editing), it was Hudson who was leaping around acting the dick.

The first Tron...I love it, am gagging for Tron Legacy, but some of the CGI chugs along due to the underpowered rendering of the time. Like they were using 3DFX circa 1998 to run Crysis :)

Terminator 2 liquid metal still looks amazing. How could you make liquid metal look more real?

Give it some definition outside of 'HEY SHINY BLOB'

and the scenes where it's not CGI and blatantly a man wearing tinfoil are laughable.

And the CGI/realworld interactions are fairly poor looking (bulletholes being absorbed and closed and whatnot).

(side note, the only thing that T3 got right was the feeling of weight behind the Terminators. The smackdowns really had fucking heft to them).

Ah yeah, you're right. Anyway, the film suffered from an excess of unlikeable characters.

Jason and The Argonaughts in full cgi would be pretty special. Although I still think they look ace now, even in their plastic models or whatever the hell they did.
    Erm.

Some movies should never be touched. Harryhausen's being most of them.

Clash of the Titans remake suggests that you don't fuck with the Harryhausen.

Yeah, but still, you could remove the 'Made in Hong Kong' moulded plastic seam on the Kraken :)
