Shown to press in New York last night, BioShock Infinite is a first-person shooter set in 1912. It introduces a new narrative and gameplay experience that “lifts players out of the familiar confines” of Rapture and sets them in Columbia, an immense city in the sky.Offical Site: http://www.whatisicarus.com/trailer.php
Former Pinkerton agent Booker DeWitt has been sent to rescue Elizabeth, a young woman imprisoned in Columbia since childhood. Booker develops a relationship with Elizabeth, “augmenting his abilities with hers” so the pair may escape the city which is literally falling from the sky.
DeWitt must learn to fight foes in high-speed Sky-Line battles, engage in combat both indoors and amongst the clouds, and harness the power of dozens of new weapons and abilities.
During the coming weeks, the demonstration given to the press will be released by Ken Levine and company, but just when is not exactly known just yet.

Why not change it like they did with System Shock. -

Registered 5 years agoStill looks cool though, sounds thematically similar at any rate.
Haven't seen a western made game set on flying airship city for a while. Glad they broke free on the underwater city, as lovely as Rapture was it's time for a change. Even if I was hoping for a 60s sci-fi style lunar city. -
It wasn't called BioShock because of the water, it would have been called AquaShock if that was the case.

It was called Bioshock because of the gene splicing thing no? Do we know if this has splicing? Or more likely just a similar mechanic under a different guise.

Registered 8 years agoBioshock Infinite is a shit name, but more is nice.
When do the scary videos featuring a decaying city with "Lucy in the Sky with diamonds" playing in the background start?
Edit : Probably never since it's set in 1912. -

Registered 11 years agoSo in the 50s there's a secret underwater city but no one thinks to mention the fucking flying city from a few decades earlier?
Did Lucas write the premise for this thing? -

Registered 5 years agoI wonder if the Bioshock 2 single player DLC that's on the way will link into this?
There something said about the DLC giving clues about some of the character's pasts, maybe they're descended (in both senses it seems) from the cast of Infinite. -
Sounds built for co-op to me. Hopefully it'll be more Gears than RE5.

Registered 10 years agoI was hoping for something set when Rapture was first built, to see it in it's full splendour. A sky city sounds like fun though. -

Registered 11 years agoWell, maybe it shows they are going in the right direction, spatially speaking. Bioshock: System will be set in a sealed city floating in space. And all will be right with the world once more. -
Thinking about the name, the cynic in me thinks of it as a one-up against the publishers, they can make Bioshock 2, 3, 4, etc, but Levine will always have Bioshock Inifinite.

Only thing I really liked about the first Bioshock was how you felt all alone and abandoned in a dead city.
