    No thread about this yet? If there is, blame the search engine.

    Anyway, the project which about a hundred years ago was 'Grand Theftendo' (a NES-style demake of Grand Theft Auto) is now Retro City Rampage, a WiiWare 8-bit-styled parody of open-world gaming. Don some shades to protect your eyes from the palette and it looks pretty damned cool, yes? :-)

    goes a little bit too 'hey dudes, remember the 80s?? radical!!' but looks ace, I like that he included a TMNT style dam level, any videos or release dates?

    Trailer is due for release soon; I think the game is planned for publication this fall?

    I heard about this a couple of months back and I remember the NES GTA 3 quite well. It does look quite fun. Could do with a trailer though!

    Gameplay Trailer

    It was never my intention to triple post, albiet over the space of 5 weeks. I guess not too many people are interested. I'm quite hyped for it myself. It looks really fun.

    This a new one on me and it looks pretty sweet. Looking forward to seeing how the final game turns out.

    So is this a Wiiware only release?

    It's initially going to be Wiiware, but the developer is trying to get it released on Live and on the PSN. Apparently he's in discussions with both parties.

    Category needs changing to 'general gaming' if any mods are watching?

    Although I somehow doubt this is ever going to make it to WiiWare now.

    Retro City Rampage quick look on Giantbomb.

    I can't wait for my email! :)

    Wario64 posted a tweet from the guy, as it's only one bloke doing this game!

    @RetroCR
    Thanks for everyone's patience. Those who preordered will now get all three versions of the game instead of two: DRM-Free, Steam & GOG

    @RetroCR
    They're finishing up the deployment, it won't be long.
    Wow! I know it's only a small game but he's given away a bunch of sales their as many people will double-dip for indie games and buy on GOG/Steam/author's site.

    I'm off to get the Humble eBook Bundle i've been pondering about as i think he's involved in that too. Maybe.

    Spent an hour with it, decent fun so far. Perhaps a bit too knowingly retro (obviously this is the whole point) but it also seems to transcend to flaky controls and gameplay. Some great display options but there doesn't seem to be a pad option for PC, may have missed it - part of the effect to play with keyboard I guess. Enjoying the little minigames though :)

    Edit: looks like my controller wasn't plugged in properly, now fully calibrated!

    I think I'll be getting it on my vita, just seems like the kind of game that will look rather nice on it's vibrant OLED screen.
  • Deleted user 9 October 2012 20:01:32
    360 pad works fine. Plug it in before you start and the option comes up before the menu screens kick in.

    Much better with the pad now, thanks. Looking forward to it on Vita (so long as the speed doesn't kill it, as with Chinatown Wars).

    Some great shots of just some of the screen filter effects: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=43024911&postcount=446

    I missed the pre-order bonuses unfortunately, but - yep, order from the devs site to make your purchase even more feel-good! :-) Will be doing so at the weekend.
