    http://www.vg247.com/2010/07/12/sony-warns-of-potential-eye-fatigue-or-nausea-from-3d-games/#more-107096

“Some people may experience discomfort (such as eye strain, eye fatigue or nausea) while watching 3D video images or playing stereoscopic 3D games on 3D televisions. If you experience such discomfort, you should immediately discontinue use of your television until the discomfort subsides.

“SCEA recommends that all viewers take regular breaks while watching 3D video or playing stereoscopic 3D games. The length and frequency of necessary breaks may vary from person to person. Please take breaks that are long enough to allow any feelings of discomfort to subside. If symptoms persist, consult a doctor.

“The vision of young children (especially those under six years old) is still under development. SCEA recommends that you consult your doctor (such as a pediatrician or eye doctor) before allowing young children to watch 3D video images or play stereoscopic 3D games. Adults should supervise young children to ensure they follow the recommendations listed above.”

So that’s buying a new TV, buying some glasses, throwing up everywhere, going blind and ruining the lives of your small children: 3D, here we come.

And the people that make Dulcolax put "may cause constipation" on the disclaimer with their laxatives.

I don't really have a point there, I just think it's funny a person would take a laxative and end up more blocked up than ever. Should've just stuck a spoon inside themselves and twisted it to clear the blockage.

Don't they say the same thing about using a VDU? Take breaks, may cause eye strain, blah blah blah.

Vg24 quality repotage again! Does anyone actually read their trolling bullshit? Apart from the authors of course :)

Then again, a title "Sony give 3DTV the same generic warnings as every manufacturer gives their 2DTVs" isn't going to get the clicks, is it. How many clicks is an author's integrity worth anyway?

I've heard that if a human being travels at over fifteen miles per hour then their central nervous system will be spontaneously ejected through their arsehole.

They're covering their backs in the same way medications need to list the side effects which occur to even the smallest percentages of people. Probably a good idea considering it's not highly tested technology.

How is this different than the "caution you may get seizures" warning at the front of every game manual?

    What's your point exactly?

Heh, you haven't seen anything unless you've seen what iOS4 does to a 3G with multitasking enabled. I want to gouge out my eyes every time I look at it :/

At least one good thing has come out of this thread. It has brought both myself and dom together in a touching display of hatred for os 4.

    In that respect, thread wins.

This is why I made the decision at an early age to walk around with one eye closed at all times. 3D is bad.

    It's a win-win situation, really.

The thread is a win, and dom-PF is a win, too.

I feel like a part of a bigger whole already. :-D

If 3D video games are bad for your eyesight, imagine what 3D porn will do to it.

Don't regular TV's have similar warnings? Hell, most games come with warnings that sound quite scary, telling you to take a break every 2 hours or you'll go blind or something. It's just there for legal reasons, so the one person in a billion that's affected can't say they weren't warned.
  • Deleted user 13 July 2010 03:06:53
I thought all games carried these warnings? Morriss is getting quite desperate it seems.

I didn't write the story, and I thought the way it was written (the second quote) was funny.

I'm sorry if it has offended people. Please report this thread or me if it or I have caused any offence.

Oh, and Carlo, here's your answer: http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/vg247.com# :)

Also, what consumer technology advises you to take your children to a doctor before using it?

    Serious question.
