Was in a Game shiop at Bluewater today and the sales guy was giving a hard sell to a potential 360 buyer

He said that the new 360 was less likely to fail with Kinect as the power usage was less with the new box

Kinect was to be great system and you could play driving games sitting down

Could not believe the rubbish being peddled by sales guys and fat geeks.

It reminded me when I bought my wii, thinking I would be swinging a 1;1 racket or light saber and it was the real deal, and after wii sports and Res 4 wore off then went looking for 360 / Ps3 instead.

Just wonder how many people will buy kinect believing the hype and some of the TV things that were clearly made up, which is just plain wrong,

There are going to be driving games for Kinect. So that's not a lie.

    This is true.

First part is opinion, and they are apparently driving games in production.

    So what's the problem?

Dont get the power supply thing, surley the kinext has its own 24 VDC supply, and so there would be no difference to xbox current usage.

Anyway, my point was the vapour ware type selling for what people think that Kinect will do, as opposed to reality.

Just as I came out of the shop, there was a demo dance video thing going on in the mall (nothing to do with consoles) and at that point I thought Dance central is going to sell like hot cakes.

With each hardware revision of the 360 the die size of the chip set has been reduced. The smaller the size, the less power it needs to run and the cooler it is. Therefore the chance of over-heating is reduced.

The normal Xbox 360s you can buy these days have a lower power requirement than the first run. It's one of the reasons the RROD isn't much of a problem these days.

I have 2 360's both Jaspers and with the 80 GB HD or whatever, and after installing to HD they make no noise what so ever, and dont get hot. This issue is long gone really for over a year now.

Yes that is true, but it doesn't mean further improvements cannot be made. If you didn't already know instead of it overheating to the point of failure you now get this.

So as the Game salesman said, it uses less power and is less likely to fail.

The salesman was using it to promote kinect.

Not to worry, I just thought he was pushing kinect well beyond what any rational person would think.

Salesman slightly over-exaggerates to sell things? Unbelievable.

It just plugs straight into the new model 360, only needs its own power supply with the older models.

It really feels like you have made this thread somewhat hastily.
