A 3D blu ray player, or a PS3. For the money a second hand PS3 is better.
They're worth it if you get a decent set. Plasmas are currently better for 3D content.
I find it's good for films but most games lose too much in the resolution department.

I think you're better off just going to the pictures for the odd thing that's actually worth seeing in 3D.

So what's the going rate these days for a decent 3D TV?

Panasonic would be nice but its a little out of my price range tbh. :(

And they are a little ugly... :/

It's strange how Panasonic seem completely incapable of designing cases which don't look like shit.

Yeah, the entire range is all rather straight up, straight down... :/
Even the Sony panels are a little boring.

When you compare them to the Samsung's, particularly the one's with the narrow bezel.. Here.. its chalk and cheese.

The bezel-less Samsungs are incredible in the flesh.

I can vouch for that. It makes every other TV look like a pile of dog poo, imo.

Ok I have bought 2 3DTV's this year and I tell you now, do not buy any 3DTV less than around the £1500 mark. Anything less (in my experience) the 3D is awful. I regret buying my 1st Samsung. I purchased a 50" plasma panasonic and the 3D is phenomenal! So my advice ... Save your penny's until u reach £1500 then start looking, especially for the Gaming side of 3D

Or wait a year and get those 1500 TVs for less than 750. \o/

(It's not like there's much out worth having a 3D set for at the mo)

I quite fancy one in the next couple of months actually, but I certainly can't afford to spend 1500 on it. Was looking at around half that, but I haven't done much research yet. I'm more interested in gaming on it than watching movies.

That first Samsung I linked might be worth a look then. 51" Plasma. Plasma produces a pretty decent 3D image (arguably the best out of the three option, the other options being LCD & LED) and for gaming the response times on Plasma, generally are the best.

It's not got any of that "Smart TV" stuff, and that's probably why it's a little cheaper. SmartTV being, WebSurfing,YouTube, google, eBay etc... Directly on the tv. Although you can plug your USB HDD in one of the USB ports and play you movies like that.

    or this one... 584

I think this might be an older model though, with the not so great 3D engine. That's the only difference I could see from my quick scan.

Edit: sorry, it was the resolution that was the difference. This one is not full HD. Only 1365 x 768.

    Samsung PS51D6900
fantastic 51 inch plasma with built in wireless and SMART TV features.
Can pick it up for around 900.
    It's a great TV

And those who say wait. Not sure why. There is always something better out six months later. Especially with TVs. It comes down to when you want it.

    He's right.
And the TV you choose does not all of a sudden become crap after 6 months. Ive had my 40" Samsung for 4-5 years now and my 32" the same amount of time before it.
Both of them were/are absolutely fine and the only reason for my need/want to update is purely inches.
324050 something... Everyone could do with a few extra inches. :)

Mostly because the 3DTV tech is still very immature, and not particularly good yet.

(Given that's the topic of the thread anyway)

The tech is fine; unless you're waiting for glasses free. There's not a lot they can do with the glasses - it works - i'm not sure what waiting will accomplish.
