3D TV (3 Dimensional Television)

Couldn't find a thread on this.

Now I have never been able to see 3D using those crappy paper glasses from years past, but I just put that down to the technology of the time.

I went into Currys today and they had a Samsung 3D TV set up playing a 3D animated movie. I popped on the Samsung glasses and...nothing. I am officially immune to 3D. On the up side I have no reason to ever buy an expensive 3D TV, pay extra to view a 3D movie at the cinema, buy a 3DS etc etc...

I drive an automatic 'cause I'm too cool to change gears.

When you say nothing, do you mean you literally saw no 3D or you were entirely unimpressed?

Nope, two eyes and very good eyesight. I have just never been able to see it. I thought it might be different with these new fangled TVs.

I find it incredibly hard to believe you simply can't see it.

Maybe it's like one of those 3D pictures where some people just never see it?

I've never been able to figure one of those out. I'm like Mr. Pitt from Seinfeld...

The glasses can be off? Ohhhhh....

Although I haven't ever been able to see it on normal TVs with the cardboard glasses.

You realise the image doesn't jump out of the screen right? Current "3D" just adds depth to the image. I find it only works for me if there's something on the screen like subtitles to provide a starting point.

Were the glasses working? Was the TV set up properly? Was it showing a 3D sequence at the time?

In some movies, not everything is in 3D, if it was Up for example the effect is verry minimalistic compared to the more boombastic Avatar.

Or you possibly do have bad eyesight but never noticed it before now, in wich case, yeah, 3D doesn't work for you.

Again, a lott of it depends on the movie. Alice in Wonderland and Clash of the Titans (for example) were both not filmed in 3D but converted later, and the effect is terrible.

This.

Ask one of the sales assistants if you're still not seeing the 3D. Unless you're blind in one eye, you should see it without any trouble.

Interesting test. I'm curious about the optional extra test because I don't see how anyone could fail it. As long as you can see out of both eyes, a finger should always be on the opposite side if you close one eye simply because of the angle you're looking from.
