I have instantly shortlisted you for "ace newcomer of the year" award just for making this thread. Can't wait for this game to come out. edit: although actually I now see you're probably not new here, and don't care a dot about this game, lol.

Looks like another current generation JRPG falls flat on it's backside:

    Famitsu score: 7, 6, 7, 6

    Dengeki score: 70, 70, 70, 65

Famitsu found the battle system fun and the characters charming but felt the game was spoiled by loading breaks ruining the flow of the game.

I don't know, it seems very high for a Compile Heart game. Probably just end up buying Class of Heroes 3 next month instead.

I wonder where that leaves Ar Tonelico 3. Would NISA be able to slot it into the Summer before Disgaea 4 arrives in September.

    Looks a bit naff

These studio get togethers always seem to turn out messy.

Only came across a listing for this game last night, sounds a tad insane, anyone planning on getting it? I suspect I'll be keeping an eye out for reviews and for any cheap deals that crop up in the meantime.

I have a copy of this on the way from VG+ (worked out at £37 for premium edition with art book). I'm a little scared to be honest. Seemed an interesting find, but the more youtube videos I watch the more terrified I become.
Anyone else gone for it? Got your copy yet?

    Terrified?

In a 'I just blew my money on this?' Sort of way?

Haha, probably. I dunno, I'm still looking forward to it. A little.

I should read up on things more before preordering things and forgetting about them until I get an email...

I recieved my import earlier in the week. I've just checked on ebay and the cards alone are going for a song. $51 just for the cards, wow.

Whilst reviews panning Hyperdimension Neptunia are not exactly thin on the ground that's one I would discount entirely.

It's more like a reader review and I think even a reader would work us step by step through the reasoning of why something is bad rather than just just dropping the 'worked on by Idea Factory' bomb.

fwiw, the game seems to be going down better with the anime audience than the gaming audience. Perhaps not a massive shocker.

Idea Factory are great but they keep developing for the wrong system. They should have learned from Cross Edge that it doesn't matter how good or complex your mechanics are if your 3D models look a bit iffy (why they even used 3D models in the first place is a mystery to me--the sprites looked ace). They're the perfect PSP developer, as shown by Generation of Chaos & Spectral Souls, but for some reason they keep making ugly-looking stuff for PS3 (no piracy I guess). I could do without all the pseudo hentai garbage but if it keeps them in business (and it seems to--just read the NISA forums) then I don't mind. You can fast forward all of the dialogue scenes in most of their games anyway so it doesn't really matter.

Things about HN that make me anxious: NISAs troupe of unbearable (sorry, "quirky") voice actors back with a vengeance, and the gameplay videos all make it seem super easy. I assume that's just because it's footage from the early stages of the game, but I do worry that their increased courting of the weirdo crowd will lead to compromises in gameplay.

Anyone know if you can start out on Hard or if you have to clear Normal first?
